shift knob questions OEM

Okay so I am confused from reading some shift knob threads.

On the 1999 GST and GSX was the stock knob the weighted leather one? or was it the shorter leather one?

Are these the only 2 oem knobs made for the 2gs?

My '97 came with the short leather one. It ripped and I bought the larger leather one from MachV. If you look at them installed you can't really even tell which one is which without looking closely. The only other stock shift knobs are non-leather ones on some of the N/T's. I'm not sure what came stock on the '99 though.

Ok so there are only 2.

Did you like the expensive bigger one or the oem shorter one more?

I like the bigger one, but only for the fact that my short one was worn out. They both are really the same. Plus the difference being that the bigger one is longer, and the way I shift I don't even touch the part that's different make them feel even more the same.

Since the weighted one (bigger) is heavier is that better for shifting?

There really isn't a huge Difference as you can see. And I really don't think added weight really affects the shifting at all.

Wouldn't you want a shorter knob for shorter throws?

Shorter knob doesn't mean shorter throws, the longer one just screws on further making them pretty much equal height too. IMHO, just get whatever one you can get cheaper.
