I have had the shep stage 2 for about a year now. It has double synchros on 1st threw 3rd. and everything else the stage 2 comes with. IT dose not like to go from 1st into second at or above 6krmps. It feals like its grinding until the rpms drop below 6 then it goes right in. The tranny has done this since it was new. I just figured that it would brake in and get easier to shift but it isent. Has anyone had this problem before? are my double synchros binding up for some reason? but other than shifting from 1st to second at high rpms the tranny seams to shift good.

You should call shep and ask him. More than likely he is going to tell you he cant diagnose this over the phone. Chances are your going to either pull it off and send it back to him. Why did you wait a whole year? After a 1000miles of stop and go traffic the syncros are more than enough to shift and ready to race.
The double syncros only go on each gear one way. I doubt there binding up. Its possible the keys or hub or slider or the spring that pushes the keys out may have broke. The tranny should shift above 6k. Its also possible you clutch may be dragging and not fully disengaging. Did you shim your pivot ball? Have you adjusted your clutch pedal assembly? Your assembly may be worn out and your not getting full throw at the slave.

I just have not been hard on the car that much. But my build is done so i would like to go to the track but there is no point if i cant hit second.

good call.
Im sure my pedal assembly is worn. (i have it adjusted all the way out)and haven't touched the pivot ball,l The clutch is new with about 9k or so on it. also the clutch does drag a little. When im hitting my studded box and building boost at 6500 my car likes to creep forward so maybe it just gets worse the higher rpms im at under a load. The slave in the car was new right before the transmission with the extension rod

What im going to try
1. bleed my clutch check for leaks in the system and maybe order a new master and slave.
2. check pedal assembly.
3.try adjusting my shift linkage from inside my car for more play.
other than that im not sure what to do besides send the tranny somewhere.

Does it shift at high RPM for 3rd ?

It only seams to do this in second but sometimes it will grind a tiny bit in other gears when in upper rpms only. The thing shifts beautiful and like butter when im just normal driving it.

Its a act2900pp with a act 6puck sprung disk
and BG synchromesh gear fluid
i ordered a oem slave and oem master and in the process of buying a new pedal assembly

forgot about this thread. i replaced the slave and master and it did not change, so I ended up pulling the trany out and putting the pivot ball shim in and it helped the pedal feal but still was binding in second. So i sent it back to shep and they are fixing it and putting a few new goodies in it. They said everything was worn down. not sure why it only lasted a year but oh well. i will be getting it back next week.

Why BG synchromesh? I was under the impression when I got my stage 3 this summer that anything around those power levels he recommends mt90. I've used synchromesh and I wasn't impressed at all, it's just too light. Did John have any other input on the matter?

same deal here with the synchromesh it was expensive and didn't seem to help anything. i changed to redline gear oil now. but i worked with Trevor over there and we talked a few things out but it was a pity straight forward conversation about what needed to get replaced.
