I have 2g with what I believe is matching tranny and xcase( I have to confirm). The car has a fidanza aluminum fly wheel, act 2900 PP,6 puck sprung clutch, and a welded center diff. Everything was gone through recently and should be in good mechanical shape. There are no noises or vibration coming from the drive train while driving.

Now the problem. Sometimes when I come to a stop on a slight incline the car doesn't roll freely. This doesn't happen Everytime, sometimes it rolls completely normally. Also sometimes when I push it around in my garage it does the same thing. I can always push it, but sometimes it's harder then others to get rolling.

If I had a mismatched xcase and tranny set wouldnt it be a constant issue? And it's doesn't seem to be building up excess heat in the tranny, xcase or rear diff.

I'm aware of binding while turning, this is happening while the wheel is straight. I also considered a caliper, but I can't seem to replicate the problem while the car is up on stands. I actually hope it is a caliper and not in the drive train.

Driveshaft bushings getting old and binding. I think my new auto car has that problem. Both supports are sagging, not centered. Just thinkin outside to eliminate that.

Resurrecting this from awhile ago. The problem is continuing. I'm starting to worry I have mismatched great ratio somewhere. Can someone confirm that if my gear ratios we're mismatched it would constantly be binding?

If you had a mismatched trans/case, it should be presenting all the time really.

Do you have a welded center diff or VCE? what are your tires like? wear and inflation levels?

If your diff is stock, it may partially broken and binding intermittently, or the driveshaft carrier bushings, OR the u-joints are going bad.

My car has a welded diff, and it is slightly harder to push in a straight line than a stock diff car. Turn the wheel even slightly, amd you better have eaten your wheaties and donned your thunderwear to get it moving even slightly.

I found a caliper that may have been the issue the whole time, but I have one more question about matching gears. If I have all 4 wheels off the ground and in neutral should I be able to feel a mismatched gear spinning the wheels by hand?

No. The wheels will just rotate differently.
