Alright. I have a red 99 gsx. All stock.. I have afriend with a 95 I think Gst. And his car pulls harder than mine.... my turbo has shaft play pretty bad. Smokes here and.there. getting a new one this weekend... also I need a new bov because stock plastic 2g is somewhat broken. Functions. But leaks a little. Do you think the turbo and bov could be causing my car to not pull as hard as it should or as hard as my friends Gst

Absolutely! Swap out the turbo and BOV, then do a Boost Leak Test. Fix any leaks you find. Your call WILL run stronger :)

Edit: Wait a second, is your car N/T? If not, update your profile please!!

Umm, well this kinda depends. Stock for stock im pretty sure the gs-t will pull on a gsx from a roll, from a dig is a different matter. If the cars are modded then please specify mods between the 2 cars. But yes, BoostNmetal is correct. The BOV is indeed a boost leak, and yes shaft play will affect your turbos performance, its usually more the problems associated with shaft play then the play itself, like the smoke you mentioned, Have you checked your intercooler piping or turbo inlet for oil? If your intercooler and turbo have oil in them it will affect your intercoolers ability to transfer heat, and slightly affect turbo spool-up.

If you have excessive shaft play, and smoke under boost its time to rebuild or replace. If you're still on the stock T25 you may want to consider replacing it with something more efficient.

If your turbo has considerable shaft play, enough to cause smoke, the wheels have probably been grinding down against the housing for a while now....and you're asking if this would make the turbo less efficient?

I don't understand the point of half the threads that get created anymore.

If they are both stock, then it will probably seem like the GS-T is "pulling harder" because it is only driving 2 wheels, and the GSX is driving all four. But you will definitely want to get that turbo fixed or replaced.

Why are you racing with a bad turbo anyway? Do you want to send metal shaving into your oil?
Try to stay off boost until you get that fixed.

Alright you guys... update...
I got a bov off of my friends car... aftermarket.. and it has solved 95% of the acceleration problem I had. . It is pulling so much harder than it used to .. just got a t25 last night .. no shaft play what so ever swapping it this weekend. :)

I was not racing with a shaft play turbo.. thats no good.. i took a ride in his gst.. and on that ride ended up hitting a deer and putting it off into a ditch.. traded for the car.. had it a hour and a half.. then pow
