Ive had my car for awhile now and I still don't have it running to full potential and now Im out of ideas. The engine runs great and the car drives fine. The engine only has about 60k miles on it so Im assuming the compression is fine. The problem is that it dousn't have the power it should have. I know this for a fact because my other parts DSM a turbo Bishi pulled alot harder and it had a huge crack in the exhaust manifold.
My car on the other hand is acting like a regular car. Ill list the things Ive checked. First I thought it was maybe a boost leak or something so I built a tester and checked that, no leaks. Then I thought maybe the turbo is bad so I checked that, it has a little bit of shaft play but it spins freely. Then I fixed a small leak it had on the exhaust maifold gasket, It was a little more torquy after this but that was all it seemed to do. Normally when your driving a turbo DSM thats stock the turbo starts to build boost around 2600 ish and you can feel the increasing power and then it really hits at about 3000 and gets better from then on. What my laser does is it just kind of revs out and you can feel a little more power but it thats it, its definetally not running the way it should. Sometimes if you rev it way out and then let off then punch it agin it will pull hard for a little bit.

But really Im out of ideas, Is there something really simple that could be causing this that I havent thought of yet?

Replies will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I havent seen your modlist, and I dont really know much about your particular situation, but heres what I ahve to offer. I jsut rebult my engine about 5000 miles ago, and everything was fine, then it started to get cold out, I started to get lifter tick, and my car started to seem a bit more sluggish. I read a post one day on here about how the product "engine restore" was really go for dsms, so I gave it a shot. My lifter tick went away, and voila' my car pulled again like it used to. Not sure if this helps you, but ya never know.

Well the car is mostly stock except for a few 2g parts. I dont think it has to do with the cold though because I was just driving my parts eclipse the other day and it pulled almost twice as hard with that nasty crack in the exhaust manifold.

I just thought of something that might or might not be of importance, When I had the exhaust manifold off I noticed that the two right exhaust ports were oily inside and the two left ones were completely dry. Bad valves maybe? I need to get a compression tester and check this out.

Any body have any other ideas?

do a compression test. I was turning 16sec timeslips when my mods and driving should have netted me a 13.9. WHY? 130 120 110 40 was my answer. Good luck man, hope ur compression is fine.

Ya I think Im going to pick uo a compression tester today or tomorow because thats really the only other thing I can think of. Ill post the results.

Nope it never smoked, and yeah I warmed it up first. I tried dumping oil into the cylinders too to make sure it wasn't the head.
