I bought a Haltech Elite 1500 ECU, I have everything hooked up including a wide band 02 and now I'm running into body position error codes which I believe has to do with the trigger system not being set up. They have a drop down list with a bunch of different cars in it and I don't seem to find my car or other DSMs that are close to it.

So I'm just curious to know what I need to do to set this up?

You will use Lancer Evolution 1 as the trigger type.

Take a screen shot and post here. You also didn't mention your setup.
its just a stock 4G63 just want to see if I can get it to run with the new ECU before i start putting goodies on it. also curious as to what turbo, intake and exhaust manifold to run.. also injectors i'm looking to run E85 as for my end result build im not sure.. just want to push it as far as I can with stock internals safely

I think you need to set a goal first, because that will determine the modifications you will need to do. If you are just keeping it on the stock longblock, I would run everything stock for now (intake/exhaust manifold etc.) Probably get a stock appearing turbo. It's been over 20 years since I have had a stock style turbo on any of my vehicles but a Big16G/EVO III would be a good place to start.

turns out i have that turbo just checked never noticed before LOL.. I also wanted to upgrade my intake manifold, injectors... the goal is tobe able to run E85 with some bolt ons.. and my internals I was going to keep stock. I did Switch my trigger set up to the EVO 1 settings. and I have no more error messages. But I still can't seem to get it to start on the ECU's base map.. Just kind of stumped. sorry for the late response

What trigger setup do you have? Stock 95?

Has been a while sense i touched a haltech. Last i did this was with a holley but you should be able to log the crank and cam signals. 95/96 cam signal is inverted. I am betting there is a sync issue.

do you know how I can fix it? also do I need to set my ignition system for it to start? there's options for it but I have no idea what to set it too or how todo it correctly.. and every time i try talking to Haltech support they just tell me to take it to a tuner.. so its like thanks for the help LOL i'm just trying to get it to run on the base map to see if i did it correctly

I'm using the EVO 1, 4G63 trigger set up thats in the pre loaded cars list. its what I was told would work
Yes I mentioned that is the correct setting in the Haltech itself. I was asking what physical triggering system do you have? Green Top/Black Top 1G stuff? The Stock 95/96 triggering system? Or the late 2G setup?

i'm sorry. I have the 95/96 triggering system
I think these links will be helpful as you work through this.

I am wondering if the 95/96 system requires a different value for TDC Offset Angle (EDIT: or a plug wire swap like illustrated in that link), similar to how you have to plug wire swap a 95/96 in certain scenarios: http://www.dsmlink.com/wiki/swapplugwires

The cam signal is inverted. 95/96 dsm is the only one that is that i know of. 1g, 97+ 2g, early evo's they all are the same. I am sure someone who is more experienced with haltech can explain how to invert the cam signal.

Little tip too if you are in a scenario where you need to swap the firing order due to this you can also at the ECU just swap the ignition 1 and 2 wires around and leave your plug wires the same.

To be honest we are probably getting out of my depth at this point. I have a Haltech Elite 1500 with the plug and play adapter. I have a 1G black top CAS and swapped my plug wires back to standard (originally having a 95-96 ECU as noted in the link above). I did not have any first start issues and the car ran basically immediately. I also drove the car precisely 1 time on the Elite. The car was running on Link before the Haltech swap and 0 mechanical changes were made when moving to the Haltech so not many variables at play. The click only and not turning over is a different issue entirely I'd suspect. The Haltech isn't going to cause that.

You ever get this situated? I’ve got a RWD swap using the 2ga cam sensor and a kiggly 2 tooth crank trigger in my mighty max. Mine runs with the stock Evo 1 trigger settings but throws the sync code as well as you can tell it’s firing off. I’m going to check timing with a timing light and adjust the offset accordingly but I’m not 100% convinced that’s the only issue at hand here since the 2ga cam sensor adds some complexity
