Sensor Next 2 BCS ? Need to Know !

Hey. I was just wondering. On my 1998GSX I have a RELAY on the same bracket as the BCS. And its not there anymore, the guts fell out of it. And I'm wondering What the Hell it is? Cause I'm worried cause might be some type of problem for me.

I am also wondering what this sensor is. I removed mine and I recently found it in a box in my house. Is it junk? Is it needed? What is it for?

Alternator Circuitry relay, but anybody have a part number or spec on this relay??

I dont have I pic of it in the car, mines missing it got melted away! But if your car is STOCK and no one modded it, it should be mounted on the same bracket at the BCS or under your intake on the frame of the car where the clutch line is there is a BCS and a Relay...

It's called the generator relay and you don't need it if your dash charge light works. Mitsu discontinued it on most 99's and everything after 99. For more details see posts 5 & 10 here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...e-charging-system-relay-2g.html#post151081889

No kidding about the follow up...

I don't recall the part number, but I broke mine a couple of years ago and went to the dealer not knowing what it was, just stated the location. It took the guy quite some time to find it because as stated, it's not on all 2Gs. But now knowing what it's called, alternator/generator relay, should help them out quite a bit. Also, if you give them your VIN, it makes it easier for them to find stuff.

Could the removal of this relay cause any charging/alternator issues?

I don't know, nor did I ask. I broke mine while doing some other work and just replaced it before I even tried to fire up the car.

On a side, I did have the broken one, but the numbers were "rubbed off". With the VIN and basic location the guy was able to find and match it up.

I think it may have something to do with the charging system cause I have always have issuse. I brought the thread back cause I'm still missing the relay. I could pickup a random relay I just need to know specs so if someone could tell me. They say the specs on the side of it.
