First of all, I want to give a shout out to all DSM'ers in general and to the San Diego Area DSM'ers in particular. I especially want to thank the moderator who took time out of his busy day to come up to Vista to download a tune on my Talon. Props to you man, the car is running good. Now to get a laptop to fine-tune the car for that extra gain in performance. I also want to thank Boosted Monk who had a desire to tune my car but couldn't due to a personal emergency. I appreciate these people, their selflessness, and I hope to meet them in person some day to thank them personally.

Oh, my bad. I meant Banishedmonk. Although circumstances prevented him from making it up this way, I appreciate his intent to go out of his way to lend a helping hand. I also want to thank Todd and Isaiah for their help in getting my Talon back on the road.

I would like to add to this thread...Kris (BanishedMonk) has come through for me sooo many times i can't even count. If it weren't for him, my car wouldn't be where it is today, he is very reliable and all around a great guy. There has been so many times where i have text him just asking a simple question and he is like come over man let's do this so nothing bad happens, that is a really nice gesture of friendship and over all caring. He understands when we want to learn rather than just beef up the car and break it, so he makes sure to explane and then listen you your concerns and adapt to that. All in all I consider Kris to be a great and very much valued friend and a honor to be considered a friend by him.
I would like to add another to this list of Selfless DSMers Augustine or (agarc023) he has been a great friend also, but Kris and Augustine know that my financial situation is very ...bad.. for a lack of words and well.... Augustine has been the first one when I've had a money issue and really really needed to get something he just stepped right in with "hey bro I got you" I'm 31 years old so it's not easy to ask for help and to have a friend who shows real concern is unlike anything I have ever known. I'm new to California and moved here with my wife only 4 years ago to work for CMC publishing along with North County Tribune but as everone knows all of them were bought out, I was a National and regional Award winner Photojournalist and it took away my career I fought hard to get into and succeed in. This along with other issues are trying to take me out of the DSM life but people like Kris and Augustine have been the two main reasons why I'm still here boostin down the road. Thank you two I do not know where things would be without friends like you.

Yep they are also good people. Is your talon light green?

Yes, well, actually it's turquoise. From a distance it takes on a greenish hue but close up, the blue comes out pretty strong.

you know, we are having a pizza day on thursday after work... a lot of us will be there, and being in vista, you are like 10 min away... hell your 10 min away from most of us north county peeps, LOL

It's great to hear that there are so many selfless people on this forum. I bet that there are lots of others but space and time prevents listing all the names that should be written in this post.
I bought my car brand new in Dec '91 and have been checking out this forum shortly there after. I wish that I had become a member way back then. I could have saved a lot of money and down time. I, like you, don't have a lot of expendable cash flow. There are so many things that I desire to do to my car but the lack of available funds is seriously hampering my game plan.

I loves me some pizza but sadly, I probably can't make it this Thursday due to my work schedule. Next Thursday is a different animal. I should be able to join you guys next week if you do it again or meet elsewhere.

I look forward to meeting you guys if you don't mind an old guy with a raggedy Talon being in your midst.

The headliner is falling apart. Come to think of it, the headliner is fine but the mouseskin material is sagging. Somewhat embarrassing, but I'm still having fun. I need to get some interior adhesive and figure out the best way to go about repairing it. I'm sure that I can find something in the forums with good advice for a competent repair job.

I look forward to meeting you guys if you don't mind an old guy with a raggedy Talon being in your midst.

it's all good most of us are 25-35+ so we are not far from you..LOL..:hellyeah:[/QUOTE]

Well, to get to my age, start at 35 and keep counting until you start to run out of breath. If you don't give in to exhaustion, you'll eventually reach my age.

Multiply your age by 2, then add a few to get close to where I am. To be honest, I work with guys older and younger than I am and I enjoy being around people of all ages. One common thread amongst all of us is we love our cars. I'm the only one with a DSM, but all of those guys respect DSM's. Many of them have seen the carnage of mutilated vehicles and devastated drivers left in the wake of DSM's that weren't given proper respect. Perhaps, many of you are major contributors to the DSM respect fund.

Awesome another DSMer, big, small, old, young, smelly (most of us are smelly) LOL

Yeah, Kris is getting up there, already getting Grey hair and a bad back...LOL

one of my best dsm friends just turned the big 70 so you are not the oldest in the community.

I stand corrected and humbled. My 47 years isn't as high on the totem pole as I thought that it would be. The glory of the young man is his strength and agility. The glory of the old man is his grey hair and wisdom.

Banishedmunk, thanks again for your willingness to help when my car was down. Concerning your friend, has he modded his DSM or is he keeping it OEM? Either way, cheers to him. I'm sure there's lots of wisdom to be gleaned from such a freind! :thumb:

Could it be that wisdom that's piling up on his shoulders is starting to impact his back. LOL

Kris' bad back has nothing to do with his age, just stupidity. He tried lifting an assembled bottom end out of the Uhaul when he first moved out here and it dropped him. LOL

Glad to hear your happy with your Talons tune I8ntLion, did you ever get your clutch pedal adjusted? While we were tuning it getting it into gear was a bit tricky, seemed it was only a pedal adjustment away from fixed.

he has modded the hell out of his 95'. his last pass was a 10.2 on 3 1/2 cylinders. His car is beautiful and when I have a question he is the one I ask.

I am always willing to help and educate as long as people are willing to ask and learn.it is what I do.

PLEEEAAASE teach me how to tune .... I am a little firghtened after last night and knowing that running 7.4 on A/F at WOT is not a good thing. If I ever become stuck and don't have you around I will be lost.

wait, how were you running 7.4 AF at WoT???? thats rediculous

Yeah man it's not good, I'm thinking it's because I have a massive boost leak

From the sound of it, I would say that Kris must be a Marine. Being a retired Marine, there's one thing that I can say about Marines; there isn't anything that we feel we can't do and if you tell us that it can't be done, we'll go out of our way just to prove you wrong. LOL

Gofer, you must be the person who tuned my car. Allow me to express my gratitude for what you have done for me. Yourself and banishedmunk are the two primary people that prompted me to start this thread. Isiah over at DTM was a major contributor as well.

I am having so much fun driving this car, especially freeway on-ramps. The clutch pedal has been adjusted and the tranny is shifting smoothly as if it were brand new. I'm going to install the new headliner and hard mount the wideband head unit this weekend.

10.2 on 3 1/2 cylinders is amazing no matter how you look at it. I am impressed with your friend. The two of you are people that I have much to learn from! :hmm:

Good to hear. Thats what owning and modifying a turbo DSM is all about, getting all those bolt on's installed and tuning it so you can enjoy driving the car. We'll be having a Racelegal on the 21st, you should come down and make a few passes down the 1/8th. We can look at your logs and play with the tune even more and you could get an idea of how much power the car is making by looking at your trap speed.

If you don't want to race you can just drive down and hangout, thats usually what I do and its only $10.

Kris is a Marine by the way, thats funny how you knew that. I'm a Sailor so I think before I jump, Marines though, not so much. LOL

Admittedly, I have had an occasion or two after getting into a situation I've had to make a mental reminder to almost always never ever make that same mistake....until the next opportunity.

One thing I noticed about Sailors; they stay aboard ship, set the Marines afloat in a rubber dingy, leave the area and tell the Marines to row back to shore when stormy seas get too rough. ;)

However, if the dingy contained a bottle of Ripple or a can of beer that comes in beige cans with "BEER" printed on it, you won't even be able to get any Marines in the dingy because it will be overfowing with Sailors. LOL
