Hi everyone. I'm totally new to DSMs and ECMlink, so I tried to do plenty of research before posting anything, but I think what I've found is weird enough to ask for advice...
I recently purchased a V3 chip and cable for my 1990 talon TSI, and for the past few days I've been attempting to get it going. Everything started promisingly enough with good connections. I was able to set the ECU to run on the speed density PNP harness from ECMlink per the knowledge base instructions and everything seemed ready for a first start. I went to town to get 93 for a test fire, but on return when I attempted to reconnect I was getting "no response received" messages.
I checked my cable in my device manager, and it still says it's working properly. It blinks green very quickly for a split second when I plug it in. I assume that's correct? Or should the green light stay on?
Anyway, after doing much digging, I started checking the self diagnostic output on ECU pin 1 and 2 and also on the OBD pins 1 and 10 respectively. (OBD pin 12 was good to ground, though I am concerned that there's 6 ohms of resistance...) What I found on pin 1 is really weird I think. I am getting the varying voltages on ECU pin 1 like I'm supposed to be, but as soon as I press connect on the software, they stop and go to 0V and won't start running again until I cycle power to the ECU. Check out the video I made below to see it in action. I assume these voltage outputs stopping when attempting to connect has something to do with the connection issues...
I would really appreciate some help on this. The hard thing was that it was connecting fine, I left for 30 minutes, and now it won't connect. Nothing changed in between, and the car battery was disconnected while I was gone. Not sure what I could have done...
