Ok. I didn't want to get the feeling of being baffled by knowing or not knowing. Sometimes the biggest issue that I have is that this site should consider adding the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring to this page. Even though I own a 1996 Eagle Talon.... I have just recently purchased a 1995 Dodge Avenger 5 speed. There are enthusiast sites out there but, for me I see the potential for more site members, more knowledge on each vehicle, and it almost reminds me of the actual partnership between Mitsubishi and Chrysler. Even though the Daimler Chrysler share was sold to Mitsubishi in 1993 for the DSM plant in Normal, Ill. we still go off of the fact of calling the 2g and 3g vehicles DSM's because of thier name sakes right. Technically since the plant became Mitsubishi Motors of America that wouldn't make the 2g Talons or Eclipses a DSM right! Now it is said that a DSM is considered a DSM because it was built in the DSM plant in Normal, Ill. Notice that even after the sell off DSM parts were still labeled and used from this plant. Now we have the 1995 Dodge Avenger and Sebring for starters. Both built in the Normal, Ill. plant with DSM parts on the Mitsubishi Galant frame. These vehicles even carry the DSM badge. All together these vehicles still being the joint effort of the Chrysler and Mitsubishi partnership from part off the assembly line to finish. Point blank with the parent companies till this day considering the Normal, Ill. plant as the DSM plant every vehicle within that 1995 - 99 platform should be considered a DSM regardless of namesake. If it was built in this plant even if it is the beginning of its time (avenger and sebring) carrying the DSM badge, still honoring what DSM was all about (Chrysler/Mitsubishi) then it should be known as a DSM. Since it was birth then might as well just call it 1g Sebring/Avenger or 2g Avenger/Sebring/ Stratus or well.... im not sure if Mitsu is gonna have anything to do with the 3g Avenger comin out in 2007 but hey thats wishful thinkin. I just want some feedback on this though cause this is the coolest enthusiast site I've ever been a member to and seeing that I just bought an Avenger as well.... I thought it would be fitting.

oh here we go again...They don't share any similarities to the talon/laser/eclipse therefore they are not DSMs. DSM is a general term to describe a talon/laser/eclipse because they are all the same platform excluding badging. Avengers/Sebrings have nothing in common with a eclipse/laser/talon.

A non-turbo is a DSM weither you like it or not, they share the same damn platform with a different motor (2G), or a non-turbo version (1G).

Have you ever seen the interior of an Avenger? Its a 2g eclipse interior. The suspension, trans, ecu, and wiring harness are also the same as n/t 2g.

The fact remains that this is an Talon/Eclipse/Laser site, and not an avenger/stratus site. Either which way, we can whine and moan all day, and it comes down to what luda says in the end.

Just kind of an FYI- the Venge\Bring share something like 60% parts with the 2g T\E. Interior, electronics, halfshafts, the entire suspension system, doors, etc.

There are DSM plates\tags on a lot of their parts (i laughed when I pulled my OEM 'Venger wheels off and saw DSM all over 'em). But that doesn't make it a DSM in my mind.... It makes it the redneck cousin. LOL

n/t's are dsm's whether you like it or not. thats like saying laser's aren't because they only made them 89-94.
