someone who felt what a real eclipse is supposed to be like.

Does anyone have torino's or similar seats that will require a similar mount in a first gen car. Currently I have 2g brackets mounted to the seats. I have not been able to find any information concerning first gen brackets for this style seat.

jdmawd,
I do have the sparco torino brackets for a 1g. Its funny that I found this thread because I'm in the middle of installing my racing seats this weekend. I don't have sparco seats however. I'm too cheap to buy those. I bought a pair of Tenzo-R Rally Seats in black. Since they aren't Sparco seats I had to have some special mods done to fit the Tenzo-Rs. The Sparco bracket covered the holes on the bottom of the seats. To be able to bolt the seats to the brackets I bolted strip of steel from one side of the seat to the other. One from the side to side across the back and one from side to side on the front. The steel also had studs welded on in the middle of each bar to bolt the seat to the bracket. This did the job, but when I went to slide the seats they wouldn't budge. The heads of the bolts that bolted the metal bar to the seats bowed the bracket just enough when tightened it pinched the sliders. To fix this problem I added another set of steel bars to act as a spacer (not quite as long as the first bar about an inch shorter) I drilled holes to slip over the studs on the first bar and then attached the seat bracket. Now they slide!:D When I put the seats in and bolted them down everything went perfect until I sat down. The seats sat too high. So time to take them out again and adjust how high the seat brackets were and that is where I'm at today. Whew, that was alot to try to explain. I hope all of that makes sense. If not e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll try to explain it again or work up some kind of drawing or pictures. I know I had all sorts of trouble after I bought my seats and what kind of brackets I'd need, where to get them, etc., etc. By the way I happened to find mine on dsmtrader or something similar. Good luck! I hope I helped clear up some of your problems. Later.

OK so what you are saying is you have sparco 1G brackets that didn't fit. Then you had to fab your own? im looking for pre made brackets that work does such a product exists if not I have a shop that can make some.

Hey jdmawd,
Sorry about the first post it was kind of confusing. I bought some used sparco 1g brackets and they fit the floor of the 1g just fine. The problem was since I didn't have Sparco seats I had to get creative on how to bolt the bracket to the seat. I had to fab an adapter to accomplish this. On the bottom of the Tenzo seats I have the holes to mount the seat are on the outside edges of the bottom of the seat. This was exactly where the Sparco brackets sat. There was no way to bolt the two together without some modding. I went to Home Depot and bought four steel bars. They were 36" long and about 1.5" wide. The holes on the bottom of the seats were about 16" apart from one side to the other. I had holes drilled in the steel for the bottom of the seat holes and mounted that to the seat. Now for bolting the bracket to the steel I had two holes drilled in each bar, and then bolts were put through the holes, the bolts were facing the bracket, and then the bolts were welded on. Then you slip the bracket holes over the studs and then use a lock washers, and a nuts to hold them both together. After I did that I then learned that the head of the bolt holding the steel bar to the seat was causing the bracket to bend a little. Just enough to bind the brackets so they wouldn't slide. I then had to make a spacer to put between the bracket and the steel bar. Whew, if you haven't fallen asleep yet I hope that maybe helps explain what I meant. I'll try to make a drawing and try to post it here. A picture is worth a thousand words ya know. And it wouldn't take up as much space. I think I'm probably getting close to a thousand so far. Later.

ok i understand what you're saying. if you had sparco seats they would have worked without modifacation.

EXACTLY!! Alright I'm excited that out of all that you understood what I was talking about or at least enough to get the idea. Its sometimes really hard to explain something you've done in a way that others actually can understand. I finally got both of my seats installed in my car and both are able to slide without problems. One thing I've noticed is that the Rally seats are pretty tall inside the car and the leg bolsters are pretty high also. This makes it a little more difficult getting in and out but the upgrade was well worth it. If you don't have seats already this might be something to watch out for. I plan on buying a smaller steering wheel (probably sparco) later to gain a couple of inches of clearance, and the one thats on there is looking kinda ratty. I might also do a quick release system. But I don't know much about them. I'll have to do some research. I'm glad you were able to understand my gibberish. Later.

I also forgot to mention I installed a set of Sparco 4 point harnesses. Those are awesome.:D Anything's better than the annoying electric sliding ones. Anyway I'm glad the seat install is behind me. It just seemed like one problem after another, but if my info can help you do the install easier than it was well worth it.:thumb: Later.

where did you buy the 1g sparco brackets?

You won't believe this. I had an unusually lucky find on dsmtrader or something of that nature. I don't remember exactly. They were $150 for the pair which were used. I don't think I've ever seen any more of them at dsmtrader or anywhere. I'd try going to a site like that use their search option. You never know. I've also heard of people using Corbeau brackets also. Good luck with the brackets and if you need any more help just ask. :talon:

I was lookin at a pair of racing seats and they come with free sliders.
They said that you can install the free sliders on your stock bracket.
anyone ever done this or is it true?

"R-1 racing seats are fully reclinable and include free universal sliders which allow comfort adjustment and rear access with the pull of a lever. The universal sliders also offer easy mounting to existing seat brackets or the vehicles floor, providing a DIY installation."

I have had it with my seat brackets they are just too high. does any one know of a diffrent company or has any one modified the sparco seat brackets to get them lower? seats in question are a set of sparco milanos.

The sparco brackets that I bought for my side-mount Sparco EVO2 put the seat at an odd angle and were too high (couldn't fit in the seat with a helmet as it was touching the headliner). Add in the sliders, and it was a joke, as my head was almost touching the headliner. I had to just use the base bracket, and have a shop weld the side brackets to this at the orientation I liked.

I remember on a mailing list someone had mentioned that sparco redesigned their adaptor brackets for the eclipse to remedy this. However, I've never seen this firsthand so I don't know if it's true.

I have a set makes sparcos rest at the stock seat height. (2g specific) they came out of larryD's car

I have Torinos in my car and I know what you mean when you say they are hard to make fit. I had to mod the height adjustment brackets to make the seats sit lower. The brackets are the thin pieces that are upturned on the ends and have three holes drilled at each end. Those three holes adjust the height.

What I found on my first try was that the seat was too high and would hit the roof. SO I lowered the seat with the adjustable rails to where it would sit the lowest. When I tried to install the seats, the adjustment brackets would hit the ground and not allow the seat base to bolt to the floor.

All I did was cut the first hole off the adjustment brackets so it would clear the floor and allow the entire assembly to be bolted into the car. Works just fine and the seat sits just about stock height IMO.

Good Luck

I should have mentioned that getting my side-mount brackets welded to the sparco base bracket allowed me to sit lower than stock height, and of course better centered with the steering wheel/pedals.

I'm looking for a full black leather seat set for my '90 Talon and I want to increase my chances of finding seats by finding out what cars share the interior, or at least the front seats with this car. If anyone could let me know, that would be great. Thanks!

This site runs like garbage sometimes.

Anyways, the question was:

I have some crummy cloth 1G seats I would like to replace. Wanted to put in some nice black leather 2G seats and was wondering if they will fit nicely or if I would need some adapters. Thanks.

I wouldnt think so, especially if your talking about the power leather ones. The passenger side MIGHT, but i doubt that as well b/c of the factory amp thats in the 2gs.

Why not replace it w/ a set of the 1g leather seats from dsmtrader or ebay?

Anyone know where I can get a pair of seat brackets for my shiny new APC seats that will just bolt right up to my 93 Eclipse?

Ive been searching for a while, and cant find anything online (maybe I just suck at searching or something)

Thanks!:thumb:
