Its actually not as easy as it sounds with a 2g using pieces of solid steel... I tried, unless you have welding experience or a shop full of equipment, its probably worth it just to pay $80 for the brackets. I paid $40 just in sheet metal to try to fab up some.

Pull out your stockers and take a look at the floor pan. Do a few measurements and find out all 4 of the seat anchors are positioned wierd (as in, nothing is dead on height wise or left to right, which makes things difficult unless you use the stock rails)

However, If you ruin the stock 2g seats by taking the brackets off, you are wasting money because you can usually sell your stockers for roughly $100 at least. my suggestion: Rather than ghetto rigging things, and risking a possible injury in a crash due to the seat base breaking loose, sell your stock seats and brackets and buy the ones that are designed for racing seats.

Also remember racing seats sit lower than stock seats so the brackets are going to position them properly in relation to the seatbelts, steering wheel and other controls.

I wish i could just take a good picture of mine because I made them (I did use a welder) and in no way are they rigged up or anything. The sliders work perfect, and the seats are in there solid. I even had one of my VERY heavy friends sit in them and they still held up. When fabing your own brackets, just use common sense, if you dont think it will hold up, it probably wont so just think of a new idea. Or take SpyderT's advice and just buy the brackets pre-made. I am going to go get a picture of mine, brb.................k, got it. Hope this helps.

umm, yeah. Nice job on the sliders. BUT HAVE THOSE HARNESS' removed immediately. If you get in a wreck, the belts will pull back and DOWN on your spine compressing it. very, very, very dangerous.

Good luck!
D

the harness is there more for looks, i never really use them. Even at the autocross events i use the stock seat belt.

so i bought some sparco seats to stick in my 95 gsx. ive read up on how to use the stock sliders and what not but what about the drivers seats thats electronically adjusted? anyone know how to fix that problem.

I used the electronic set for about a week until my sparco brackets/sliders arrived....

first it was a pain to install.. mainly ebcause you pretty much have to rip aparrt the seat just to get to the "base" (i didnt care since my seat broke.. thats why i replaced it)

seconldy figuring out how to mount it... theers a THIN metal plate that goes inside the seat, and bolts onto teh electronics, you can actually have the aftermarket seat sit on this and bolts right up (just need one or 2 new hols for the screws to line up on the seat)

the problems:
-NOT SAFE you will basically be relying on this thin metal sheet to keep you mounted!
-TO HIGH, the seat was about 6" higher than it is with the proper brackets. (because you cant see behind easily)
-you will have to keep sliding backa nd forward to get in and out... NOT FUN (since the motor is so slow..)
-you always think "what would happen now if it just snapped..."
-steering Wheel may be rubbing on your thigh

the good:
-CHEAP (free..)
-The height.... yeah its bad but its good because you can see infront of you amzingly well... even better than stock (you are actually sitting higher than stock with the electronic seat in the "highest" position).

It was better once i got the real brackets in... but i really do miss the height (im quite short)
:)
hope this helps.

yea it helps alot but where did you get your brackets and sliders from? ive heard weapon r brackets work great but the two dealers that ive ordered them from have cancled because the both say that the brackets are backordered till may.

YOu mean the aftermarket brackets i eventually got? if so I got them from a local preformance store (same place i got the seat)... and they ended up costing as much as the seat.... :(

is it possible to use the sliders off of stock seats and attach them to fabbed brackets? i don't have the money to buy new sliders and brackets, and was wondering if there was a how to or some pictures of fabbed equipment so that i could put corbeau seats in my 2g. never done this before and most ppl waver on their opinions when it comes to where to get stuff for seats or how to install them.

Hey man..

I just threw in my Corbeau A4s in my 2g...had the same problem.

The seats SHOULD come with the sliders attatched....I think thats how all seats come. I fabbed my own brackets, and welded them to the stock legs/ mounting points so they would mount to the floor in the exact stock position. The Corbeau sliders on the seat were easily placed and drilled and screwed in with a couple lock washers and bolts.

As far as using the sliders off of the stock seats, I dont believe it will work. Take a look at the bottom of your stock seats...its a mess LOL. It might be able to be done, but just from looking at it, I wouldnt try. Are you sure your seats dont come with sliders?

will they fit
i have leather seats in my wrecked spyder
i have cloth seats in my 2.0 nt
i will like to have the leather in my car now
all seats including the rear
will it work?

i'm not sure if they come with the sliders or not...all i've seen is pictures of the ones i'm getting from a guy. i will definately check to make sure they do. as far as fabbing some brackets...wouldn't you kind of imitate the stockers and make kind of a square with steel and drill holes for the bolts in the floor? i've looked at brackets on websites, found about 4 diff kinds but i'm afraid of buying them and they not fit or work right with my setup?

the fronts bolt right up the rears do not.

What color is your interior of your spyder your taking parts off of? I am interested in buying a few things if its tan interior, ASAP. let me know (im not sure if my PM's are working, it doesnt say i have anything in the outbox but i tried PM'ing you twice.)

Im picking up a set to tenzo R seats later today and i know i can buy brackets for them to bolt right up in my car but has anyone tryed using their stock brackets and welding them to the seats or making your own brackets or what??? Im gonna take a stab at it and try it im just wondering if anyone else has attemped this before... let me know what ya guys think...

I just ordered my Megan Racing seat for my 2g. It comes with a universal rail kit. I was wondering if anyone has gotten this to work in their car and how hard it is?
I'm just trying to save myself some money and not buy the SBR rails if I don't have to.
Any input would help. Thanks

It probably just came with universal sliders, which are flat mounted on the seat bottom.
You still need seat rails, which is what the sliders mount to. You can usually use sparco/corbeau etc rails.. Some people have adapted them to the stock rails from their old seats.

The rails that work for Megan racing seats, and our cars are from Wedge Engineering. They are sold on SBR for $99. Sometimes the holes have to be modified a little where the sliders go to the rails, but its no biggie, just generally taking a couple 16th"s of an inch out to fit perfectly, but this is sometimes, not all the time. http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=5989&

So you need rails and sliders? The kit from sbr is one piece that is a rail and slider, correct?

I have the Megan seats, they come with sliders but not a bracket. You need to buy the Wedge bracket. Personally, I just bolted my seat directly to the Wedge bracket with no slider. This way the seat sits lower so I can actually fit in my car with a helmet on. I can't slide the seat this way, but I drilled holes in the bracket in the right position for me so I don't even need a slider.
