SEALENT ON boost gauge FITINGS help

any tips on installing a mechanical boost gauge...........

SHOULD I USE A SEALENT ON THE TEE FITINGS AND THE FITING ON THE GAUGE? IS IT ALRIGHT TO TAP INTO THE VACCUM PORT ON THE T.B. I THINK IT IS THE P PORT.

THE GAUGE IS PROSPORT, NYLON TUBBING, PLASTIC TEE. THANKS.

Just use some teflon tape on the fittings.

I had to use a brass tee. But other that that it sounds like you got it. I didn't use any sealant on those fittings either. no leaks there at all when I did it.

Get rid of the plastic tubing and get some rubber vac line that fits. Youll thank me later. I would also grab some little zip ties and secure your lines on with those.

Could I just use some glue to help hold it on or could that cause problems, a buddy said use J.B weld??? Damn I hate being a newbie....someday...maybe..someday..

I'm in no way disputing your word, I'm a newbie, I admit. But why is rubber or silicone better for a gauge? I understand on the Boost controller.

I would also recommend putting a real barb fitting on the back of the gauge and using actual vacuum line with zip ties. The nylon hose has a high tendency to break.

I'm going to agree here too. When I did my gauge it came with that white nylon hose, it kinked, and busted a hole as soon as I put it on. I was buying a new replacement hose the same day.

I think I'm going to do that same thing, find a barb fitting, and run some rubber hose too.

I have had mine on my car for nearly a year and haven't touched it since putting it on and have had no problems. It connects to a BRASS hose barb on the back of the gauge. So much misinformation in this thread, guys, if you don't have the gauges, don't spout lies about them.

Thanks, dsmfa9nutter, you are correct on the clear tubing. It is alot better than the cheapo white nylon. I have used that. Thanks for everbodys input.
