NOTE: The gauge pics below are not the best quality as I resized and compressed them alot from the originals. The original full size pics are quite sharp and clear with no jaggies on the lettering or numbers....

Well, I SCORED big time at a boneyard today.

I have long been searching for these which match well with my white car (see my gallery pics). Today's rare find for $100 was OEM 1999 2G DSM Turbo gauge cluster with the OEM WHITE gauge faces (the only year these were made available):

I recently did the red LED lighting of the gauge cluster and switches which looks fantastic. Still felt something was missing since my OEM gauges of course are black faced. Didn't want to go with the "Indiglo" style gauge overlays - I just don't care for them AND they would would defeat the LED lighting since they completely cover the gauge and have their own lighting. As a short term solution I did order and install white gauge overlays from Import Intelligence Custom Gauges faces, performance auto service and repair - West Chester, Pa. These actually looked pretty good:

Still, nothing beats OEM in this case and I just HAD to pull the trigger on the OEM guages when I finally found them...

The OEM gauges are not quite as bright white colored as the Import Intelligence overlays. The OEM's are just a slight shade more gray tinged but still quite white. I LOVE this look! Here are the gauge clusters one above the other in a single pic:

Now to find a white faced boost gauge - either an Autometer Ulta-Lite or am thinking maybe a Glow Shift gray:

Autometer - note the black numbers which are not translucent. At night the red illumination is backlit, not through the numbers like the '99 OEM gauges are now...

Glowshift - the illumination matches more closely the new gauge cluster - at east the first illuminated pic at left below:

I actually think I have my UEGO wideband white face. I can just mail it to you as I will never use it.

Import Intelligence is like an hour from me. But the OEM one's look good. Don't use glowshift they are cheap crap. Look at the Greddy white faced boost gauge.

Autometer ultra lite II gauges have the numbers that are translucent they are silver thou. The phantom II gauges are white and have the translucent numbers too. Those would work well if you wanted gauges that matched.

Hey seavee since you're down here in the miami area and have already done the red led conversion on the cluster, i was also interested in this mod and haven't had the time to do it, think you can help me out sometime ?
BTW car is looking great bro. Keep it up.

Where did you go? I went to U-Pull-It today in Davie and couldn't find squat.

Thanks so much for that kind offer. I'll PM you.

If you order the necessary LED's from Superbright LEDs as per this thread:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/app...superbright-red-leds-my-cluster-switches.html

I can help you do the gauge cluster at one of the meets no problem and no charge (maybe a single cold beer). That part will only take about 10-15 minutes. As for all the little switch lights that takes alot longer and and I just don't have time to do all those for you. Sorry but wife, kids, high pressure job and time is so scarce for me and I get alot of heat from her for how much I'm working on my own car as it is.... The switches are more tedious but not difficult or complex. You can do that part taking your time. The gauge cluster alone is just 7 bulbs but order an extra one or two in case a bulb breaks pulling them in/out of the sockets to test that they light up with the polarity.

I first searched on the net at car-part.com and then called Leo at Miami Parts to confirm that it was in fact the '99 white faced turbo gauge before driving up. I asked but that was the only white one they had.

I've also gotten stuff from Bob's U-Pick La Victoria Auto Parts Website where you can actually walk the yard with tools. They have about 5 DSMs there now but only one turbo and all of them are pretty much picked clean already now.

@97GSX - Thanks but that Greddy Gauge is electronic and I really want to stick with Mechanical

@cotsi95 - I looked at the Autometer Ultra Lite II and Ultra-Lite. Close but the night illumination is different than the '99 gauge pod.

@fastasseclips95 - you may be right and these might have only been available on the Oz edition....

Actually, my Glowshift one is pretty accurate. I tested it with a a compressor and regulator before I installed it.

You guys outside of tri-state area have it so good. Junkyards in NJ and NY have a computerized pricing system that matches the price to other junkyards. :(

I have to go to PA whenever I want a sweet deal or looking for parts.
