Hey Guys, I'm kinda in a bind here. I just ordered a fp3065 with tial 44mm wastegate. The only real thing im not sure of is if this new turbo will fit the newer sbr manifold. Because of the thicker flange and how the manifold is angled to clear the water pipe. Is there anyone out there using this combo (sbr and fp3065)? If so, did you have any clearance problems with your install? I'm thinking that I might need to ditch the sbr manifold and order up an evoIII or another 2g (since mine is cracked). Thanks in advance and any information someone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. 6bolt motor, Stock Radiator and Stock fans. Just incase someone asks

With the thicker mani flange you shouldn't have an issue with the water pipe. It will either be very tight or you may have to slightly dent it but the bigger issue will probably be with your stock rad/fans. With my 3052 I maybe have 1/4" clearance between the stock fans & the comp cover & this is with the evoIII mani. The 3065 has a slightly larger comp cover & with the thicker flange you may run into clearance issues. I think my biggest concen would be how long that mani is going to last without cracking (yes I know it was supposed to only be the first gen mani that has cracking issues but I know of a good number of guys who had issues with this one as well).

Thanks for the input guys. That is the second person I have heard from about those new manifolds cracking. I got it decently cheap brand new. I think I'm going to order an evoIII and port it out myself since fp quoted me 3 weeks build time on the turbo.

They were defently the second version with the WG flange but I don't know maybe they never bothered to send them back because of down time, etc. or did what I did & just hoped the cracks wouldn't spread too far. Being in Canada it not always worth it to send things back by the time you figure out shipping & brokerage/customs charges.

I think they've released 3 cast manifolds. The SUPER early ones that didn't have a wastegate flange, and then two versions of the ones with the wastegate flanges. The first version of the updated design (with the wastegate flange) had a lot of issues. Supposedly the reinforced second version hasn't had any problems, other than the craptastic machining. My BRAND NEW sbr V2 manifold had a machined head flange that was slightly warped/not flat, as well as the tial wastegate flange being offset compared to the cast wastegate hole. Oh, and the threaded bolt holes were not in the correct place for my geniune tial to bolt on. but, hey, close enough right? :notgood:

We know bud, its just inevitable that any SBR thread turns into a war..LOL. I have not used our manifold with that particular turbo, but liek i said, with a PTE 50trim it took a slight dent in the water pipe to get teh comp cover to not hit. You wouldnt have to do any more than that for it to be all good! :thumb:
Even with both stock fans as well?? The compressor outlet must point to the passenger side with my greddy fmic, it looks tight but I will give it a shot.

No, im sorry i didnt mention that i had to hack about 2 inches off his fan blades and cut a secyion of the shroud out..for the trouble and how crappy it looks doing taht, you might wanna just get a slim fan, make it a lot easier. the AC fan might have to go though, i never put a big turbo on a car that had AC so i really dont know...LOL. If you run the external gate on it i guarantee it will have to go, internal it should still be ok, i would think. :thumb:

Stay on topic before this thread gets closed. This is the turbo tech section, not vendorreview .com, certainly not the right place for non-sponsor vendors to resolve customer service/product issues.

Damn buddy, I missed all of the good stuff. Oh well let me know when all of your stuff comes in and I will help you out.

Stock AC fan should probably fit, if you tweek the dump tube just right. I have about .5" clearance on that side, so I believe you should just be the width of the thicker mani flange closer, which isn't that much & should still work. The main fan is defently going to be a tight fit, if it fits at all. You'll probably need a slim fan for this side.

I'm having abit of a brain fart. The 3052 cover is a 2" outlet but the larger 3065 comp cover also has a larger outlet. I'm thinking its 2.5" but for some reason am not sure. It may be 2.25", but I don't think so (someone confirm)

3065 is 2.5" outlet.

Well if anyone is still wondering. The turbo came in and is pretty much bolted up with a few small clearance issues. The compressor outlet barely hits the pass. fan, and oil dipstick was bent to hell LOL. Other than that water pipe was fine and driver side fan was fine as well. I just need to connect water return line (which can be seen hanging in first picture), oil feed and return, and waiting on some couplers from turbohoses.com. Thanks for everyones help.

God I can't wait to get one of those. I've had a tial 44 sitting on my desk for almost half a year waiting for the funds to finish the new turbo swap.

All you need now is the FP manifold and all is gravy.

Hey Buddy sorry I couldn't help out this weekend but with the short staff we have now ;) I had to work. Oh and the fact that Jason gets bitten by a shark then Devin gives birth I also had to work at the other store.

How come you only have the one picture up?

NVM, God I hate my slow ass computer.

Oh yeah, give me a call when you will have a chance to swing by work, I still have that sheild if you want it.
