So I was able to get one of these Slowboy Racing G60-1 for basically free.

And I just rebuilt a motor with OE components. I'd like to eventually use this turbo to hit somewhere around 350/360 so i saw it as something i could grow into.

But anyways.... I've got somethings to fix on the car before i start tuning for bigger psi. i know this thing pushes mostly in higher psi.. so can i assume this thing would be a wimp and be safe at stock boost levels?

I really would like to drive the car around and make sure everything works on it before I buy more performance parts, but this is the only turbo i have right now.

Or will i need a wideband/tuner/injectors/pump before i should even consider driving it at whatever boost level?

I appreciate the info.
 
You can run it at 10psi....just don't expect to make any power. A 16G at the same boost level will probably walk all over you because it's going to spool about 1000rpms sooner. :p

Talk to bNasty on here. He's running a g60 at higher boost levels.
 
G60 and G60-1 are two completely different compressors. The T04E60 compressor is more likely to surge at higher boost levels in a DSM bolt-on turbine housing than the old-school T04B60-1...not sure why, but that seems to be the case.

The O.P.'s 60-1 is basically a FP Red with a smaller turbine wheel. This can effect the overall airflow the turbo can produce, so you may notice your airflow level off before an area where the compressor is maxed out.

Every G-series journal bearing turbo I've seen used a T31 turbine, though I always felt the 60-1 would do best mated to a T352 turbine. I don't think spool would suffer all that much, and what you'd lose in spool you'd definitely gain in turbine flow when using a DSM bolt-on housing.
