Ok guys my set up isnt anything special.. I have a small 16g with a 255 pump but only stock injectors. I just recently got my BOV properly recirculated into a new dejon tool intake pipe with a brand new K&N filter. I also have an narrowband(i know widebands are more accurate)Autometer AFR gauge and a palm IIC datalogger with MIIC on it that haven't been installed yet. I was thinking I could buy a safc and take my car to a shop to get all these things installed and working to get a decent tune. Is this a bad idea? will the safc even really do anything without a real upgraded fuel system? thanks for any help

the s-afc will do something even if you're completely stock. if i was you i'd get some bigger injectors first though then there's more of a point of having the s-afc

ok, what size should i look into? should i be set with larger injectors and a AFPR? I've been looking to find a cheap safc also? anybody got a used one for a decent price?

You NEED the AFPR for the walbro 255 fuel pump. And the fuel pump flows plenty at 60psi base fuel pressure. As I said 60psi gase fuel pressure will turn your 450cc injectors into 530cc injectors. 550s cost $300 and flow only 20cc more. 650s cost about the same as 550s.

The safc will correct for 530cc fuel flow just as well as 550cc fuel flow. If you get 650s, you come into some timing issues. Since the fuel is controlled by fooling the ecu into thinking there is less airflow entering the engine, the ecu puts you at a more aggresive timing advance for a lower airflow. This becomes an issue with 650s, though drivability usually is fine, I don't recommend this IN YOUR CASE since you only have a stock sidemount. High timing advance and stock intercooler is a recepie for detonation and blown headgaskets or worse.

530-550cc of fuel flow is PLENLTY to really get into the full potential of the small 16g anyway. You'll have not so much timing advance, push back fuel cut 20%, and not have to buy anything other than the safc and the AFPR that you must buy anyway.
