hey
Ive had my Talon for about a year now and ive slowley been started to "mod" it.
Ive came across a good deal on a brand new Apexi SAFC II and free install.
what I want to know is, if and when I get the SAFC II can I leave it to "stock" settings ? or does it automaticly start changing stuff around and you have to take it from there.
Ive been trying to find good articles on how they work in an attempt to learn about it but i cant find anything thats helping me.
I really dont want to pass up this deal on it, its brand new and the free install is a bonus.
I just have no idea on how to use it and what it can do to a full extent.
If it can be installed and have the car left to 100% stock settings then ill buy it and learn from there and begin to use it as I mod the car some more.
but it scares me to think that if I put it in I have to start playing with buttons to get my car to run properly, knowing my luck id put something in the wrong spot and end up doing some damage.

hopefully someone can answer this for me.
Thanks alot

When installed it doesn't change anything. The only way it will change something is if you physically do it.

If you are still stock, please use something to see what exactly is going on. I know the 2g is slightly rich from the factory, but moving the knobs on a fuel trimming device is not something to just do till you feel faster.

You will never feel faster in your DSM, right up until the engine eats itself.

you can definately leave it at the stock settings if thats what u desire. But even if your not heavily modded, then you can still fine tune that thing to get a little bit more out of ur car!

Did you tune yours with your a/f gauge? My friend is doing his with a Greddy Peak Hold EGT and Logger. We will probably fine tune mine once i get my EGT. But if i can safely get a horse or two with an A/F i'm all for it.

Edit:
Speaking of the devil^^^^^

I tuned with my egt for the time being and as of today I used my pocketlogger for the first time. I was almost dead on with what the EGT was telling me. I might have been an exception to the rule, but the peak/hold greddy is a great gauge. :thumb:

The way I did it is by....

A. Get it to go WOT smoothly with the AFC.

B. Take it on a nice 3rd gear WOT run. See what your peak was.

If it is below (GReddy is 'c) 875 I lean it out some starting at about where boost hits. Do it by 1% at a time in all rpms. This is ofcourse after you do "A". If you are hitting above 875 you should richen it up the same way as leaning it out.

DISCLAIMER: I would not use it alone. You really need a Logger of some sort.
