SAFC/SAFC II questions on a 1g

hello all, well my searching has not really gotten me anywhere so i am posting and asking. is the wiring different for the safc and the safc II? reason being i have a safc on my 92 gsx but the display is crapping out on it as it comes on when i push on the unit. i have a safc II just sitting here that works fine and would like to wire it in, i am just wondering if i can cut the safc I and splice the safc II wires in it's place?
