To describe the problem its easiest to start from the begining .. I went out to get food and the car was running "fine" ( guess i wouldnt call it fine but how it always was running ) i walked in to get my wonderful chicken burrito and went out to my car and started it and the afc did not turn on .. after about 5 tries i said screw it and started driving home ( i also have a maf translator ) needless to say i couldnt go above 2k without the car sputtering like crazy .. about 4 minutes into my drive it turned back on to my relief out of no where..

a few days later it did it again and i couldnt figure it out , i was at home this time so i decided since its a black afc i will relocate it maybe there is a inside temp sensor and it wont start so no chips in the afc blow.. alough this turned out not to be the case , i checked some more and pulled out my ecu , well it appears where i got my car done they forgot to screw one of the screws down inside the ecu, No damage no burn marks i was sure i found the culprit i thought the screw sliding around was randomly shorting it and after fooling with wires etc the car would "start" ..

Feeling happy I solved the problem i was confident in my car again , untill me and my g/f decided togo to the fish store ... I go out to my car start it and "bam" no afc comming on .. im wiggling wires removed my stereo making sure the loose wires on the afc arent touching metal etc , finally after 45 min i start the car again for the 20th something time and it starts up with the afc , i pull back go forward and it shuts off , so i park back in the parking spot. =/ eventually i get the afc to turn on again by wiggling and acting as if i know what im doing and starting the car basically 93208420394 times untill it turns on .. Unplugging the batt and replugging it in has no effect with this issue either .. it is becomming more frequent and alough i did not install the afc myself the "connections" appear fine , i now have the afc laying on the passanger side for easy wiggle reconnect jesus christ for the love of god please work mechanics.

i have had the afc for a couple months, the first few weeks it worked great .. ( could this be a ECU problem? something else perhaps? ) Any information or help is greatly appreciated.

Tough to say without being there but if the wiggle method is working for you you may have a bad solder job inside the unit where the connector is. Also sometimes wiring can break inside the insulation and looks fine but wont pass current.

Good luck

sounds like your wires are loose, maybe not soldered or a connection that was soldered broke. Check your connections, there are diagrams on vfaq.

ANother possibility is actually inside the safc itself. If you open up the safc (carefully, 4 phillips screws on the back), you'll see that the cable plugs into the board, its not hardwired. I actually had a problem where the safc cable somehow got unplugged from the board after driving it for a year. Plugged it back in and its ran fine ever since. Good luck
