I installed stock headlights today, whilst I installed I had the battery disconnected. I got finished, and I started to install the battery and I went down to far and accidentally bridged the positive to the ECU. This is definitely a mistake to learn from. I unplugged my wires from ECU, and smelled inside and it didn’t smell burnt inside, so I didn’t fry it. I made sure my terminals were all tightened down on the post and I started the car, but when I started it, the car would barely start and idle. I checked all the fuses in the fuse box and none were busted. I can smell gas, so it’s getting gas, but I’m not 100% sure as to why this happening. Maybe I shorted the coil pack? It’s a 420a Engine. Thank you all very much. Definitely a mistake to learn from.

first some advice for next time:
--you don't need disconnect the battery to remove or install the headlights.
--if you do need to disconnect the battery, just remove the negative terminal.

When you say "bridged the positive to the ECU", i assume you had the battery negative terminal connected and then somehow managed to touch the positive to the ecu. Right?
I'm not really sure how you managed that but it doesn't matter.

If you did fry a component on the board, i doubt you would smell it. There is about an inch of red gel shit on top the board.
