Ok, so I've searched around and haven't found a definite answer. My car seems to run rich (smell of gas) and sometimes idles horribly, sometimes idle surge, sometimes idles fine. Anyway I changed plugs and wires and properly gapped. Checked for boost leaks, I have a small vacuum leak in the hose that you tap into for a boost gauge, but besides that everything's fine. Under boost between 5000-5600rpms my car gets some kind of cut, it's not as rough as fuel cut, but it definitely cuts out. Are these even related? I've searched all over and haven't found anything but more guesses. thanks

Are you running a MBC? What is your fuel setup? I see you have a aftermarket boost gauge. What kind of psi are you pushing

Stock fuel, no rewire, jank boost "controller" but stays at 13psi strong.

By the way, someone with this cut problem said they changed to colder plugs and it fixed the problem? Anyone know anything about this?

13psi is pushing it on stock fuel setup.. I know i had a faulty boost cntroller and that was causing me to hit fuel cut. What plugs are you running?

I thought that the stock fuel setup could handle 16 psi? And I'm running NGK 6's

Get yourself a 2g mas and some 550 injectors.

I'm gonna skip the 2gmas and go with a gm, but I can't afford it right now, and I'm gonna buy exhaust first, so I need a fix now.

Try bumping your boost down and change your plugs again. If its been fairly recent since you changed your plugs you could ###### get away with cleaning them with some carb cleaner.

Just spray it on there and put them back in?

And any advice on running rich??

Yea just spray them on there and wipe them down. the carb cleaner will eat the residue away and wipe it with a cloth. I always have a bunch of plugs they arent expensive so i frequently change them. Running rich? Do you have a afpr?

+ 1 on the o2 sensor possibility. Have you noticed decreased MPG during normal driving?

No CEL but I have a 1g, and I've heard that they don't always show up. And no I get an average of 28mpg. But that's mostly 60mph highway driving, boosting every now and then, but besides that driving like a hypermiler.

When did you first notice this happening? Did you change anything? Up the boost?

It's happened ever since I bought the car, bone stock. But I had a boost leak, fixed it, and it gave me an extra 700ish rpms before I cut. But since then I've done nothing but boost leak tests, and come up with nothing.

I have this very same exact problem with mine but on a 2g eclipse. I have a 190LPH walbro fuel pump. I the CEL light on and the code was (02 Sensor Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2). So I replaced my 02 (well, I spliced it but it still worked), went off, came back on.

As said in MANY other threads before...

Before you go throwing parts at a problem, invest in some sort of data logger. -That should at least steer you in the right direction. Right now you are flyin blind without any sort of knock or A/F monitoring.

Try plug wires. Had this problem twice now,did plugs and wires and the problem goes away.

Changed plugs and wires just two weeks ago.

You're absolutely right, but I just spent all my money on a timing belt job, so I just need some possibilities of what it COULD be. Oh and I replaced my knock sensor about a month ago. (and no I didn't tighten it too much)
