I wonder if that ticking noise is from the lean mixture? This is a fresh stock rebuild as well. I put seafoam and fresh premium gas in it as well. I just wanted your guys option. I'm going to look for any leaks again today. Would you guys believe me if I said I've own this car for five years and only drove it ten times? Sadly it's true.

Have you pulled the valve cover after hearing that? I had a similar noise that ended up being a garbage lifter, ended up throwing a rocker through the VC

Sounds like lifters to me. Mine are noisy until the motor starts to warm up, then the sound goes away.

Yeah, you really cant go wrong with the revised lifters. I bought mine for 100 bucks (108) shipped off Extremepsi, much better improvement

Update... fixed all leaks. And still have a lean mixture. I'm sure I have my safc 2 zeroed out correctly... All I did was put all of my adjustments to zero in my hi and low settings. Is there something else I have to do to it..? I clean every lifter last summer and bled them out. May be because they had no oil in them all winter?

I'm going to do that now but what would you look for when trying to find a bad lifter?

You can pull the VC and try to push down each lifter by hand to see if one of them collapsed. Check the rockers and so forth. Wiggle the rockers see if their tight etc

Everything is tight. I couldn't get any of them to collapsed. Rockers are good. I did find 2 long pieces of metal shavings. A lot of very fine metal flakes. I got most of them out with my magnet and poured oil to flush what ever I couldn't get so Most of it will hopefully go into the oil pan. It will be changed first thing, plus couple more times.. It's do to an oil pump failure. I forgot to inspected the head for flakes. I'm still lost on why my arp is running lean. I'm going to check the exhaust side tomorrow to make sure there aren't any leaks. It wants to run smooth.

lean mixture - either intake valves are stuck opened or injectors are not firing. Pull injector plugs one at the time and see if it changes the way engine sounds or idles.

If intake valves are stuck open then lifters need to be plunged out. The noise you maybe hearing can be valve piston contact. If injector/s is not firing then its either clogged or injector driver in the ECU is shot.

EDIT: if intake valves are stuck open then the AFRs wouldnt be lean ### the piston wouldnt make compression, so it has to be injectors.

Hey guys sorry it took sooo long, life happend. well that noise I'm hearing is cylinder three fuel injector is not firing correctly. I disconnected it and nothing changed. It has to be my wiring harness. Because I cleaned the fuel injector and swap it around and the same thing happens. I checked the resistants and it's 6ohms on all connectors.WTF Little lost on how to proceed.

I had a similar issue. Ended up being a cracked valve guide. Gave me random misfires and hard to tune with a sporatic misfire. Took me forever to locate it. I might recommend a quick compression and leak down test just to make sure...

The engine is fresh rebuilt. I did a compression test on one of worst cylinders after rebuild and it was 170 and it was cold.Ill check the compression. On the cylinder in 5mins.

Compression test numbers. 1: 158 2: 155 3:145 4: 140
I half assed the test cause I was getting eaten by mosquitoes. Compression is real strong. I didn't have the throttle wide open either.
