A few weeks ago i put in a new walbro 190 pump and when i took the old one out i noticed it was a walbro gss432 which i guess is the 255 hp. So a previous owner must have put that in but i thout u needed a afpr to run a 255 so i didnt know why they had that in there and i thought it was a little overkill. I hooked it all back up started it up and ran fine. I also rewired it with 10 gauge wire. It was running normal no problems. Then the past week or so i noticed it seemed to have a little less power than normal but its always had a boost creep problem and i thought it was just because it wasnt tuned and ive been trying to save up money to get ecmlink, innovate lc-1 wideband and a laptop so i can just run at like 19 psi that its creeping at. The other day i started it up and it was idleing a little rough but it still ran ok and then last night i was driving around with some friends and i pushed in the clutch and it just stalled but thats happened many times so i didnt think anything was wrong but when i started it it was idling really bad and i had to get pressing the gas and lots of smoke coming out the back. I looked under the hood and couldnt see any wrong and oil was fine so i just tried to drive it home and it wouldnt go over 2000 rpms and i could watch my gas gauge dropping and it went from a little less than full to 3/4 in a 10 minute drive. I never saw the cel come on. Any ideas?

I just did a boost leak test not too long ago and i found a few leaks and fixed them except my biss idle screw was leaking a little bit and i was just gunna try to put something over it. When i did the test though, i could here it leaking through by the throttle body but it was leaking outside. I tried getting on tdc but it didnt make a difference. I will do another test tomorrow and see if i have any major leaks. So i shouldnt use the walbro 255 hp without an afpr for sure?

I found the problem, part of my ic piping came completly off. I ended up taking the whole ic out and cleaning it. Put everything back on and it runs good now and it didnt seem like i my boost was creeping as much as before but im not completely sure ### i didnt get on it too hard. I am just going to keep the Walbro 190 in. I dont think i need anything more than that for now.

ya i was going to say i bet 1 of your IC pipes fell off but if u are running rich or not i would still get an FPR whether u run a 255 or 190 pump... Its worth it.
If price is a problem u can get something cheap like this Mitsubishi Eclipse Fuel Pressure Regulators - B&M Racing Mitsubishi Eclipse Fuel Pressure Regulators -
If not get something like this EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - FueLab "515" Complete Fuel Pressure Regulator Kit w/ Gauge: Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99
either way it will be an improvement over stock

Thanks for the links and advice. I never really looked into afpr's i was wondering how much they were. I might look at getting that b&m one. I could handle $44
