RSX Type S Vs. 1g N/T Laser

MY best friend has an RSX-S with an intake and exhaust . He kept taking sh*t that any car without vtec sucks. So i raced him with just a cai on my car and he spanked me . 2 mouths later though i put a ton of mods on my car and i spanked him by half a car lenght. He maid up excuses of course so we raced again and spanked him again. The problem with his car and all acuras-hondas is they have no torque at all.

HP is a function of torque, you can not have hp w/o torque with the same given RPM.

Your friend does need to learn that VTEC is over rated, but Honda's do make torque. Especially the K, H, and D series motors.

He has around 180 at the wheels but only has 120 torque which is pretty low. My eclipse has a lot more than that . The first 1\8 of the quater mile is all torque. Thats why i was able to beat of the line by the time his vtec started kicking in and started catching up it was to late.

If your a good friend you'll tell him to get Hondata when it comes out, lowering the Vtec ingagement point on the RSX's helps alot (their Hondata chip does it now, but is not tuneable).

Actually ive been telling him for a couple of months know to get the apexi V-AFC 2 . But he said hes going to wait to buy his turbo first .

hey is hondata that thing that pushes the red line up to 11k. if not, then what is that, i want my friend to get it on his gsr but i dont know what to tell him to get.

Any tuneable ecm will let you change your rev limit, but I know a stock GSR will not handle 11k for long.

For your friend, the SAFC will not change VTEC engagement. Make sure he uses cybernations "black magic" thing w/ his turbo or a standalone. th black magic prevents ecu relearning and aperently handles ignition timming somehow. I m currently running the afc hack, but bought a standalone to prevent the ignition advance it brings.

Unless the "friend" of yours actually worked a job and saved the cash to buy the RSX outright, it does not belong to him. It belongs to his parents, and he is just permitted to drive it.

The thing about "rich kids" is that they aren't rich, they own absolutely nothing, and depend upon the success of thier parents which they sponge off of.

If you worked to buy the Laser, or you worked to rebuild it and make it better, then you have EARNED the right to call it yours. Your friend has earned nothing and is no better than a bum driving a borrowed car.

You might want to remind him of this in the presence of his lady-friend, pointing out that any speed YOUR car may have is testimony to how hard YOU worked to get it. You might imply that any woman would be more than happy to attach herself to a man who knows how to work and earn his own things in life, rather than knowing how to spend Daddy's money.

I was raised in wealth, and after my father died I lived in abject poverty. I've seen both sides of the coin. Trust me, both you and your "friend" will one day be kicked hard in the teeth by life: of the two, I gather you will have more character to survive it, and thrive despite it.

VTEC is definitely overrated. Plus many people with VTEC end up removing it once they start playing with turbo because it actually causes problems. Plus I agree LaserCool - he can't say shit cause he doesn't own the car. Tell him that if your parents bought you a $20,000 car that you would be fast if not faster than him.
