RPM jump when engine starts

When I turn my car on (usually for the first time of the day) the engines jumps straight to about 2.5-3k rpm, and today went all the way to 3.5k from a dead start. Considering the temp outside is 10 degrees and that is probably how cold the engine is when I turned it on I don’t think I instant leap to 3k rpm range is good for my engine. Any ideas why it does this and how to stop it. It ideals at about 2k when cold, and 1k when warm. Other than a K&N filter and a boost gauge my car is stock

Sounds normal for cold conditions but you may could adjust your tps to make it idle down to 900 when warm. Adjust it CW. If you have a volt meter measure the signal wire for it and set it to .50vlts

How long does it take for the idle to come down?

it surges, the idle drops when I shift into drive or reverse. 3k rpm sounds a little high but I guess so.

If its surging then you tps needs to be adjusted. That or it went bad. Try adjusting it and see if that fixes it. If your IAC/ISC is bad then it would stay high all the time 3k is a lil mine idles around 2.5k at first and settles down as it warms.

2.5 is usual but it climbs into the 3 sometimes and im just worried about it being that high

Adjust the tps idle volts to .48v-.50v

and maybe make sure you don't have a small vacuum leak anywhere

My soft lines for my intake are pretty old, I was not planning on changing those because I have a FMIC with all hard pipes.

So you mean your not getting new soft lines just replacing with hard lines for the fmic?

Yea there would be no point to get new softones
