Ok I'm lookin at 2 FMIC setups right now but I can't decide which one to go with, 1997 Mitsubishi Intercooler Kit ECLIPSE Front Mount DSM - eBay (item 200645903921 end time Sep-05-11 20:30:06 PDT) or this style ECLIPSE/TALON 95-99 2G DSM 4G63 INTERCOOLER+PIPING KIT - eBay (item 370518525783 end time Sep-10-11 18:39:14 PDT)

My questions are, which one will flow better, be easier to install/route pipes, will I be able to retain my foglights, and am I gonna have to take a sawzall to my front end LOL? thanks.:hmm:

I wouldn't use either one of those, not only are they long route, they don't even show pressure test ratings. Check with Punishment Racing or VRSF.

You will need to cut the bumper to fit any FMIC and the fog lights are going to be determined by the inlet and outlet of the end tanks.

If you want a good flowing core, check with ETS.

The biggest thing you need to understand when looking at intercooler cores, is high density and low density fin count. eBay, PR and VRSF use a low density fin count core. The downfall to this is you will not achieve optimum air temps when running hard. They will be better than your SMIC, and they won't be bad, but you will be robbing yourself of some power.

ETS, PTE (basically every company that uses a Garret or Garret-like core) will have high fin density count, and control your intake temperatures better.

If you are going to be building your average 12-13 second weekend warrior, it probably won't make a difference.

Thanks for the helpful information bro, I am just hella broke right now because I have been dumping money in this car since I bought it and I just need something decent that will work for awhile right now...I just got a 20g turbo and I know my stock sidemount is gonna get heatsoaked like a mofo so I think I am gonna go with the second one since I can always upgrade the intercooler and short route piping later, I just need to get my car driveable again because It's been sitting since I decided to try to rebuild my stock turbo (which I f*cked up rebuilding so I got the 20g). Once again though, thanks everyone for your input.

The piping kit with this second one is perfectly fine. My friend bought the PR kit for his GST and ran it on a 14b for awhile, then he bought his GSX and he is still using the piping, but now uses an ETS core on it. He probably won't ever need to change the piping or intercooler for his goals (11s).

sh*t I'd be happy with 11s haha because I'm going to keep this car street driveable...I don't usually like buyin cheap crap, but I'm kind of in a bind right now though....thanks for the advice H4g64T

You wont have any problems with the punishment racing kit, i've had it installed for about 2 months now, running at 15psi and all is good. Kept fog lights with no clearance issues. Had to trim front bumper opening with a dremel tool and Had to modify one of the pipes slightly to fit my set-up. perhaps because i am still running the stock t-25, either that or i'm a complete dill. But i'm happy with it.
