Hey Guys and Gals, I just picked up my first DSM after a long time wanting one, I finally bit the bullet and found a real clean 98 GSX that needs a bit of work. Turbo and paint mainly, which is all in the process right now. I ordered a Ebay FMIC to get put in while I have the front end apart and had a few questions while I'm waiting for UPS.

I have the routing all figured out just was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me or point me in the right direction as to the box and hose under the driver side head light. Which I believe in for emissions. I would like to eliminate that if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also the power steering cooler line that runs in front of the radiator, I have a spare auto trans cooler and was thinking about routing the cooler thou that. I'm not worried abut the extra cooling but would like to move it off to the side abit so it is not in the way of the ic. Would there be any cons to this, besides the extra fluid.

It's the charcoal canister. You can remove it, leave the harness dangling (I put mine in a plastic bag and zip tied it out of the way), remove the hard lines crossing from the passenger side, and loop/connect the two hard lines with some hose on the passenger end.

Thanks everyone, I thought it was the charcoal canister, but just wanted to make sure. Ill get that out tonight after work and the cooler mounted up then I should be ready for the fmic when ever UPS decides to drop it off.

i know the abs box is in that area... but isnt the charcoal canister under the battery... i removed mine on my 95 gsx and i know its under the battery, unless its different on the 97-99's... and the air box thing is on the passanger side

There are no brake lines around the box, just hoses. Im pretty sure its the charcoal canister so they must have moved it. Ill look a little more thoug to see where the abs module is.
