Roof all dented up...

I bought my 1g off someone and the roof is all dented up.

I figured out that I could fix this myself, then started realizing that the cost to get a new roof was cost prohibative.

I have read some posts where folks say this can either be fiberglassed or bondoed.

When I say that the roof is dented up, it looks like someone walked on it (that is what the previous owner said anyways).

There is really no dent deeper than 1/4", but there are tons of them.

I have heard that I can take a thin sheet of bondo and drill holes every few inches to keep it in.

I am pretty good with paintwork, but I never really could get the hang of bondo.

Any thoughts?

can you possibly push them up from inside the vehicle? Maybe removing the headliner will allow you to get to them better.

I think that the dents are pushed out as far as they will go. A better description of this would be to say that roof looks "rippled".

Wish I tried harder because I just replaced the headliner with the instructions that I found on this site!!

I heard something about heating it up with a hairdryer and then putting dry ice on it or using a compressed air can upside down to get the dents out, check youtube, I believe theres a video on there

Buy a case of beer and take it to the best body shop in your town at 4:30 on Friday, and ask them to talk about your car for you. Explain you're a noob, and don't know how nor what to fix.
We can't help much without being able to see and feel it. But a large Bondo field frisbee is not what you want.

This is a relatively low priority on my car right now.

I think the previous owner pushed the roof out as far as he could....so I don't think the dry ice trick will work well.

We are talking like 50 small dents.

Is there any oil can dents? Probably so I suspect you might need some shrinking done also. A child can do bondo Mix, spread, sand. Post some pics.

But the guy said he did not know how to do body work, that is why i posted those vids.

im gonna try that this weekend on my bmw i have a few dents but should i heat it longer seeing as though its only like 35 degrees out?
