I just picked up a second DSM and its a 93' TSi AWD. The motor is blown and the short block needs to be rebuilt. I'm pulling the motor later on tonight so I don't know the extent of the damage, but if everything is garbage - crank, rods, and pistons - I have a crank from a 92' GSX and I was thinking about buying the 6 bolt rods from DSM Graveyard machined to fit 22mm wrist pins and the evo 9 pistons and rings from them. Anyone know if these parts will go together ok? DSM Graveyard says the rods are only for 90-92, which is why I want to use my 92' crank even if the Talon's crank is ok, but that makes me wonder if the 93's rods and crank are different. Also, I'm going to eliminate the balance shafts, while I'm in there. I've heard horror stories about cheap kits causing big trouble. Could you guys recommend a balance shaft eliminator? Thanks a lot for the help.

Chances are that the motor from the 93' is a 7 bolt. So if you want to use the 92' crank which is most likely a 6 bolt(but possibily a 7 bolt) then the two will not mix.
I am not sure but am fairly certain the 7 bolt rods are different from the 6 bolt rods as well. Hence why the rods will only work with a 6 bolt.

As for the bse, I've had goodluck with the free bse. You can find the write up in the Tech section. Make sure to port your oil filter housing. Good chance that your oil pressure will be too high if you don't and do the bse.

Geeze, I thought 7 bolts were only in the 2nd gens. I'll find out what I have tonight.
