whats up, ! found a awd talon that needs a rod bearing and dont know anything about it haha. My question is how much would they cost and what will it take to replace? thanks ahead!

1 million dollars!!!! ROFL LOL :p. jk. you can get aftermaket rod bearings ranging from $40+. Check out what some of our vendors have to offer. Most of the times you have to do alot more work than just replacing a rod bearing so it will be a bit hard to just guess how much it will cost to do the job.

Why does it need a rod bearing? Did it spin a bearing?? Because if it did you are more then likely gonna be purchasing a new crankshaft.

hmm thats what I was worried about, im thinking about trading my 91 gsx for it, worse case what would you say im lookin at price wise, also is it somethin I could do myself with help from some dsm'ers helpin?

The guy is saying that it has a thrown rod bearing and that it didnt mess anything else up.

And to replace it you would more then likely have to pull the motor. But i guess it it was JUST the rod bearing you could just pull the pan and swap it out.

yes you could do it yourself(assuming you have the tools for the job) minus the crankshaft resurfacing if it does need it, it needs to be sent out to a machine shop.

thanks for all the info guys, and soo fast too! haha my last question is there any way to tell how much damage has been done without pulling a bunch of stuff apart if I go look at it?

Thats what dsmtuners is all about :D Haha
Uhmm you could turn the car on (i wouldnt recommend this) and if you hear loud knocks then its a spun bearing.
You could just take the oil pan out and check the bearings and run your finger nail across the crank surface. And if your fingernail gets caught then your gonna need a rebuild. Good luck :D

ok thanks, turnes out he already has the head off for some reason.. So i wont be starting it! A 95 tsi would be a 7 bolt wouldnt it?
