Rod Actuator Disconnect Harming Turbo??

I just recently had a shade tree mechanic fix my head gasket, and in the process he disconnected my wastegate actuator rod to my 16g turbo because he said my my boost levels were all out of control and my PCM needed to be reprogrammed when the rod actuator gets put back on. The car is running good but there is NO boost from the turbo. I have no money get the PCM reprogrammed right now nor do i know how much it cost. My question is. How long can i drive my car without the actuator rod hooked up? Will this kill my 16g turbo that i Just put in my car?

No, you just won't boost. Hook it up and turn your boost down if it really is a problem. Is the 'mechanic' someone who actually knows about these cars? How does he even know whether it was running 'too much boost' or not?

most "shade tree" mechanics don't know JACK about these cars and what they can take. Hook your actuator back up man. What mods are done and what size injectors? "boost levels all out of control" sounds like my father in law, who by the way also works on his own stuff and doesn't know JACK about how to do a proper job on a car.
