So I really dont know if this is normal, but under normal acceleration (NO BOOST), my wideband starts tacking out rich after i pass 4K in all gears. I dont know if this is normal but its the first i noticed it. Again no boost, just easy acceleration, it starts reading into the 13's and 12's sometimes worse. Is this normal?:aha:

Your PCV still good? I've heard that not having it can cause you to become more rich because it helps lean out the engine, but honestly I'm not entirely sure. I think they remove the blow by from your crankcase and lead into your intake manifold to be re-burned or something along those lines. You could just have some leaks somewhere causing this. Did you recently do any work to your car?

Yeah if you're running mods and not properly tuned, it can cause problems. Whenever I pull my battery, I have to get it retuned or it runs like crap and always going rich and wanting to die.

the car runs fine just the wide band reads rich after 4K correct? the factory tune is super fat right out of the box. its a safety margin. better safe than sorry. i bet your car is fine

That's interesting. I didn't know that. So you might be right.

Did you just get the wideband and noticed that? or was it perfectly fine before and just recently start doing this?

Not necessarily. It depends on the load and RPM, and whether or not the ECU is switching to open loop. If he is truly seeing AFRs of 13:1 when the ECU has switched to open loop and is targeting something around 11:1 or lower for example, then his car isn't "fine"; he would actually be running lean. If he is seeing 13's when in closed loop, then there is still an issue, since the ECU is targeting 14.7 at that point and he would be rich.

If those 13:1 AFRs are showing up in the narrow open-loop load range above 4k where they should, then yes... everything is normal. but would you want to just chance that? Assuming something is "fine" on your car when it isn't, is a good way to cause yourself some agony. Telling it to someone else is a good way to cause them some. :)

OP - You REALLY need to make a tuning solution or at least a logger your next priority.

Where can i get a hold of a logger? Im on a budget because of college, and PS i have a mac...

That search bar at the top of every page is your friend.

Here is just one of hundreds of threads on the subject: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/230375-list-loggers-info-tech-article.html

My personal preference (along with a vast majority it seems) is ECMLink. It seems pricey at first, until you consider that it will be all you ever need for logging and complete tuning of your car...and the support is fantastic. I actually recommend it as the very first "mod" that people should do to a DSM.

Being in a late 2G, you have other decent options. I'll let someone else speak to that though, as I'm not familiar with what all is available right now.

Well I'm still waiting on my VA payment, so i really cant afford to drop 500+ on something, but thats for sure on my list once i start getting paid. As for suggestions, would a pre turbo exhaust leak be causing this?

I discovered an exhaust leak pre turbo, well right where the manifold meets the turbo.... Im guessing thats my issue, ordered all new gaskets and new ARP bolts, and ill be going back to stock manifold instead of my cheap turbular. Hopefully that fixes it!!! Just as a refresher to remove studs from the turbo i can just get a vise grips on them and tun them out right?

So I spent some extra money, ordered gaskets for turbo to manifold and manifold to head and new studs. I switched from my leaking tubular manifold back to my cast manifold. NO MORE EXHAUST LEAKS! But sadly I am STILL running rich over 4K. I dont have the money for link just yet. Is there anyone running EvoScan or have a logger I could do one log with in Wisconsin?
