I searched everywhere and cant seem to find an answer. But does anyone know of the revised valve cover? Supposedly its better than the stock one. It doesnt crack/leak.

Does anyone have it and is it true? Heres a pic (it powdercoated)

Im going to be getting one, but I just want to make sure this is what its like. I dont get the vacuum port though to the left side, why is it L shaped? Is there a way to fix it, anything I should worry about?

I do not know of any "revised" valve cover but the reason for valve covers cracking is not a faulty design but more over people over-tightening the bolts that hold it down.

The L shaped breather on the left side was found on 1g 6 bolt motors if im not mistaken.

This does not look like a revised cover but more of a powdercoated/custom 1g valve cover.

oh ok so that is a hyundai type valve cover? I remember reading about this type that never cracks or something, there supposedly made real strong (supposedly revised). Guess it to make money? I like the look too, but how do I fix the L shape port?

Guess I should just stick with the normal 2G valve cover

Yes that's the Hyundai valve cover. I have one on my car, I didn't know it was considered a revised valve cover - good to know. The L shape port is just a fitting you can swap it out for a straight fitting or whatever you need. It screws right out.

There is nothing to "fix" with the L shaped breather port. Like i said before, stock valve covers wont crack if they are installed correctly and tightened to proper torque specs. There is no reason to go and purchase a new valve cover unless you have totally damaged your old one

I have tried a couple of these valve covers. The bolt holes are actually larger so regular bolts wont work. You can try longer ones but they wont seal right and it causes the valve cover to leak. I had two perfect valve covers and they both leaked. If you get the oem hardware it will seal right but it comes out to over $100 for studs, bolts and washers that are made to work with the manifold. All I know is it was a nightmare and would never try another one.

The "L" shaped fitting is not an issue. My stock valve cover has it and breathes fine.
The one in your pic is not revised. It's just Hyundai's way of making the 4G63 look like it was their design. I actually kinda like it better than the mitsu version. There are at least 3 different 4G63 valve covers, not counting different colored paint.

I recently saw someone selling one of these in the classifieds and they had it listed as some sort of "revised stronger than stock" valve cover. I just laughed because its just a stock Hyundai valve cover. I wouldnt say they are any stronger. As JayRolla was saying the bolt hoes are bigger, thicker, and Hyundai makes special washers with a small lip that fit inside the holes. If you do end up getting one you will need the washers and longer bolts or you will never get it to seal.

The L shaped breather is on all JDM and Hyundai valve covers. There is no difference between it and a straight one. They both work.

If you look at one personally they "are" actually stronger than the regular dsm ones. They are braced much stronger underneath. Ill take pictures tomorrow to show you guys. And the bolts to use them are found at homedepot/sears. You just need regular washer(nothing special here) and 8 bolts that are 5mm longer than the stock out ones.

Reason I ask is cause mine is cracked and I dont know from where but there is oil ontop of the valve cover where the letters are. So I wanted to try the supposedly "revised" one and I like the clean look of it :)

I can choose whichever valve cover I want, The one I posted which is supposedly the "revised" one OR the normal stock one. Ill be getting it powdercoated mirror black with polished letters. Which should I choose?

And lasthope05 what size bolts and everything do I need to be exact?

No such thing as a revised valve cover.

It doesnt crack/leak.
ROFL Torque those things hard enough and they all will crack and leak.

Replace your oil cap gasket. Get OEM stuff - valve cover gasket, spark plug gaskets, 1/2 moon gasket (a metal one from an EVO if you don't want the rubber one).

There are many different variations of valve covers out there. You can get shaved valve covers if you like the clean look, ones with Mitsubishi on top or Hyundai valve covers. Pick one that you like! Personally I think the shaved valve covers make our cars look like having Honda engines.

Valve cover bolts (these are the ones that I have) - BoneHead Performance

Thanks for the answers. I have replaced my gasket and still leaks, I think I over torqued it though and maby it cracked. But anyways Im sticking with the reg valve cover and getting it powdercoated black with polished letters and lines :)

Thanks for the help :dsm:
