I just put on a hyundai valve cover and It keeps leaking inside the spark plug valley. Someone told me I need the hyundai studs and hyundai seals to stop it from leaking. BoneHeadPerformance said to just use regular bolts and get the hyundai seals and it would work fine. Who has a Hyundai valve cover and what did they use to keep it from leaking?

Hyundai bought some 4g63's and 4g61's and 4g64's from Mitsu instead of building their own engines. Biggest mistake we could've made as Hyundai's reliability dropped from that venture.

Here's my old 2.0 Sonata valve cover.

As to the OP's problem, a new fresh valve cover setup should work fine, I don't think there are any differences in the vc's gasket area that I could tell. I know mine sealed fine outside the fact that I removed the baffles like an idiot and filled my oil catchcan in 2 weeks with $11 worth of Mobil 1.

Stoop so low? Hyundai's building brand new plants in America, Mitsubishi is considering leaving the American market if sales don't pick up. Maybe you missed the part where I said that Hyundai's reliability rankings dropped after they started using Mitsubishi engines. Hyundai, Daimler Chrysler, and Mitsubishi have now created a program called the World Engine Program where they'll be taking input from all 3 manufacturers to build a line of engines that are very similar in design so that they can reduce costs amongst them.

The 3.8 in the new Eclipse GT is one of the first engines from the program and can also be found in our Hyundai Entourage van and our Hyundai Azera luxury sedan.

I know a few things about Hyundai's if you're more interested.

I know, but its Korean, American, and Now Japanese again making more and buying less... I can see why Mitsu considers leaving, look at the crap they have been putting out since our cars were ended? I am talking about the 4g63 turbo AWD in the 1st, 2nd, and Galant Cousins, and the closely related 3000gt/Steatlh platforms.... They will never measure up to thier name ever, unless they bring something like that back, or better. That is why they had to give up our 4g63 platform for the new evo's, they realized it for a split second. I hate getting those evo guys, my engine is better than yours, only if they knew the truth.... We are all based off of the Galant platform, so, we are all related then huh?

Your valve cover is just like a regular 4g63t's. Mine has different size gaskets which I have. When I pulled it, it had studs but I forgot to grab them and now they are gone. I searched and someone said they came off a 95 1.6 dohc. does anyone know for sure so I can order the studs from the stealership?

I did it dry thats how ive always done it. Im going to use bolts and put the hyundai seals in because I was researching and someone said it will work fine without the studs as long as you use the hyundai seals on the spark plug covers the rest is the same. Ive been hitting the junkyards and Im going to hit them harder to see if I can find just the studs for the center. I just had it powder coated candy apple red and it looks great, just want to have it on.

Now I have got something to add to this, since we are on valve covers.... A 1st gen 4g63 valve cover can fit on a 2nd gen 4g63 engine right? I know, I know, a newbie question, but someone had asked, "If the Evo and the Eclipse have the same engine, then they should share the same cover too?" I know it has something to do with the MIVEC or something doesnt it? I dont know so that is why I am asking....

Evo valve cover will not work on a dsm, the motor in an evo is turned competely different.
