Searched everywhere but couldnt find a direct answer. Have a brand new scm5031 i am installing in a few days and i am wondering if i need a restrictor. I still have balance shafts in and i think i will be ok just want some more opinions.

I haven't had a concrete answer to that question as well. I talked with 2 vendors.1 told me it's not necessary and the other said pte wants it without one. Both said I don't need a restrictor even if my balance shafts are removed. So I'm not gong to be using one.

I was also told by PTE to not use a restrictor, even with no balance shafts.

Just to give a small update I got curious and called PTE today. They said that for my scm series as long as the oil pressure is no higher than 85 psi. You don't need a restrictor. I'm going to get an oil pressure gauge and go from there.

I've been using the same turbo for a couple years without a restrictor, and it's being fed from the filter housing. I also have the balance shafts removed and it doesn't burn any oil.

I got the same turbo, and also dont run a restrictor. Feed from the oil pump housing. No shaft play so far. Its been ran at 20psi for one summer.

Can someone post a contact number or e-mail for PTE?
There's nothing on their site, and I need to inquire about this mystery turbo I have...6169E, with a mitsu housing...just want to know what wheel is in it, oh and as what the torque spec is for the T04E to center section bolts are.

Thanks,

Wayne
