Hey! Well, my Talon has had the CEL on for a few months now, I'll disconnect the battery and it will go away, then a few minutes later it will come back on. So, I went to Checker today and used their little OBD II machine to get the code out. Here are the results.

Trouble Codes:

P1105 Manufacturer Specific Powertrain Trouble Code

Pending Codes: No Codes Reported

Freeze Codes:

P1105 Manufacturer Specific Powertrain Trouble Code

(I used the search button *go me!* and found that code is for the Fuel Pressure Solenoid)

I was looking for it and I found a part of my car that was not attached anywhere although it had a mounting bracket. I managed to get it attached but was wondering what it is, and what the twisty knob was for and what it should be set at. Anyone know what it is?

If you cant tell where in the engine bay the picture is, here is a zoom out of the general area.

Does anyone know what it is for? Also, can someone point out where at the Fuel Pressure Solenoid is? Also here are just a few other questions.

What is this wire for? Does the fact that it is there mean anything?

Also, why is my fan melting? Does that mean that my car is running, or did run at one time, hotter than it is supposed to?

Hope to get some answers,
Thank you all,
Anthony

Was just about to take my ECU out and found this thing under the passenger seat. Can't find where it should go but it "feels" like it's important and should be attached to something.

Any advice would be appreciated!

but this selenoid can be adjustable? can this one lean A/F?

do eny one knows how it works?

Is there anything i can do with with this or any of the solinoids to help my car run a bit better.........P.s I have 1g BOV, 3" N1 catback....and a Ebay intake

You can run a vacuum line directly from the intake to the fpr and toss that solenoid in the garbage.

ok thanks for the help........By the way im going to ask this bc it is pointless to start a new thread, and I want to know for my car specificly. Would it be ok to run a 14b on my car at 12psi with my my mods listed below. Again thanks for all the help

I wouldn't recommend doing something like that unless you are not required to pass emissions in your state, have dsmlink to correct the likely CEL that will result, or it's malfunctioning somehow.

Just leave it alone.

Following a similar line of thought, if you haven't done so already, build or purchase a boost-leak-tester and see if you have any leaky hoses/gaskets. This eventually becomes a part of every dsmer's "regular maintenance."

Yes. I run a 14b with the mods in my profile. Make sure to get an aftermarket boost gauge, if you don't have one, and make sure to get a MBC as well. I can run 15psi with no problems. I don't though.

:dsm:

Fill out your profile please, that will help with alot of issues later down the road that way people can see what all mods are done to your car and to help you troubleshoot

You would be perfrectly fine running a 14b at 12psi with your mods

It won't throw a CEL on a 1g, but again the emissions thing. Removing it can also have an effect on how easily the car starts when the engine is warm. Just leave it on unless it's busted somehow.

Yea i have a boost gauge jus for some info im running 20 vac at idle and 13-14 at wot....thats what it read right after hooking it up.....appreciate all replies

It's to aid hot starts. Won't throw a check engine code and won't make you fail emissions. There are thousands of dsms that no longer have it and run perfectly fine.

It regulates pressure/vacuum going into your FPR. Your FPR is regularly a rising rate (lowers fuel pressure when on vacuum, and raises pressure when under boost). This solenoid bypasses it for emissions purposes. Like everybody else says, tap the vacuum source from the intake manifold...but I wouldn't throw it away unless you don't plan on ever smogging the car. :)

Wrong. It is for HOT STARTS to combat fuel vaporization. It has nothing to do with emissions or adjusting the fpr's fuel:boost ratio. Like I said, there are thousands of dsms that don't have it (including mine), run perfectly, don't throw cel's, and pass emissions.

It's a part of the emissions diagram underneath the hood. Maybe it doesn't affect your emissions in the literal sense, you may still have to put up with some bs because the mechanic at your local gas station sees that it's not there and fails you. There is absolutely NO REASON to remove it unless it is giving you problems somehow.

And I know that it won't throw a CEL on a 1g, but I have heard different with 2g's.

My car (90) never came with one. But if it is listed on the vacuum diagram under the hood (and is removed), I can almost ASSURE you (in CA at least), that your car will not pass the visual portion of the emissions test. For some reason, CA is a real Nazi especially on DSM's (which is why they even have a CA-tuned ECU/EGR system). There are many other "useless" hoses and gadgets in the car there for the sole purpose of meeting emissions standards in states like CA that the car could honestly do BETTER without.
