[RESOLVED] What is this part? [alarm horn] [Merged 7-8]

What is this part and can I remove it? I am in the middle of relocating my coolant overflow bottle and was thinking of putting it in this area.

Soda pop bottles probably won't melt, but you can bet they'll turn to crumbly crap over time. Part of the recycling characteristics.
Check out washer and overflow bottles at the junk yard that have been expose to sunlight for a year or two. They come apart like they were made of cookie dough.

On the back firewall I have a block circle looking thing that is about 3 inches in diameter. It has a plugin with a red wire and a black wire. It is locked above the fuel filter about throttle body height. Any idea's

yep i think your right! i always thought the horn was in front of the drivers side tire in all that mess in the fender but i guess not! thanks

thats not the horn, on a 2g the horn is right beside the front bumper support on the drivers side

since im not with my car i dont recall what that is. but next time i get on i will tell you what that piece is if not resolved by then.

Sure as hell looks like a horn to me...... albeit an odd place, but the washer fluid in the spare tire well isn't exactly mainstream placement either...

I don't remember seeing a horn anywhere on the front of my car when I had the bumper off, then again I wasn't looking for it.....

Yep, 2G horn is in teh front driver side where it gets filled with water and stops working 2 any time it rains .

That sure looks like a horn and mayu be from some one moving it or installing some ghetto-aftermarket alarm in the past (you never know anymore )


Have you checked the wires for power or tried triggering it in any way?

i remember hearing somewhere that the 2g alarm had a secondary hardwired horn. so that even if you disconnect the main one, something would still go off in the event of a break in...


now i don't know, and i don't feel like investigating now, but i'd say if there is a secondary horn, maybe thats it?

Wondering what this part is. Its located on the passenger side on the firewall. It been on there not hook up to anything. Its on my 95 tsi. Im getting a check enginge light the code says evaporative system circuit. Is this part involved?

Not really sure what this is or what its to. I would like to move it but I wanna know what it is first. It was behind my battery when I did my battery drop onto the frame. I need to room to install catch cans. Its the thing with all the ground connectors going to it

ok thanks. Someone else said the same thing in my Avid motor mount install thread as well so it will now get deleted.

I forgot to ask is there any wire harnesses that need to be disconnected other then the wires that are shown and any relays or fuses that need to be pulled?
