I have the serial to USB adapter from the Zeitronix website. It works perfectly with the Zt-2 software, but when I try to log w/ the TMO logger so I can see knock it doesn't work. The TMO software connects successfully, but doesn't see any data. Do I need to change any speed settings on the adapter? Or do I need to try a different adapter? I've searched and I know the 'Link guys have a lot of luck with the keyspan adapter, but I'd like to stick with the sewell if I can.

Any input would be great. Thanks.

I received a PM asking if I ever solved this issue. Nobody has responded to my original thread, but I resolved the issue and thought I'd share my info w/ anyone who's interested.

The solution is to luck out w/ the right adapter. =P Basically, out of dozens of different suppliers of these adapters, I've found only TWO different chipsets inside them:
- Prolific
- FTDI

So basically, lots of manufactures sell the adapters, but I think there's very few companies that actually make the guts. The first adapter I picked up was the one sold at the Zeitronix website, and it says "sewell" on the outside. That one pops up as "Prolific" in the device manager when I plug it in. It works like a charm with Zeitronix, but NOT with my TMO datalogger.

The other adapter I tried was one I borrowed from a friend. When I plugged it in, the device manager said "FTDI". It as an FTDI chipset inside. One unique thing about the FTDI style is that they self install drivers so you don't need to download/install them. The FTDI adapter (which actually has NO name on the outside of it) works perfectly with the TMO datalogger!!! I ended up trading another Prolific adapter for the FTDI one that my friend had. He runs 'Link on a 2g and the 2g didn't care which one he used.

While I didn't actually buy the FTDI adapter, I googled around and found one by cablemax that says it has FTDI inside. It also looks *exactly* like the adapter I use for datalogging TMO. You can buy it here.

One additional note: For kicks and giggles I tried plugging in both adapters at the same time into 2 usb ports to try and log tmo and Zeitronix at the same time. It worked!!! Now, if I can successfully merge the excel exports then I can compare ALL the data in one log. The problem is that the Zeitronix has a much higher data rate, so the excel ends up using WAY more cells than the TMO export for the same amount of time.
