[RESOLVED] Pre-cut window tint Ebay

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I ordered some of that awhile ago......I dont think it was the same ebay seller, but pretty much the same thing........Overall it was good.....tinting is hard and takes patience(especially the back window..need 2 people to hold it)......but the product was good and is lasting fine

I bought the tint off ebay. It really sucks. It bubble if you do a good job and not even roll down your windows. Don't buy it.

Would you recommend just buying some window tint at autozone and do it myself? I think I can do it. I'm worried about the back window though. On how to cut it in pieces, etc.

I would just pay to get it done right the first time. I have done several tint jobs, almost all only on flat window surfaces. The rear window is very difficult do to it's curvature.

They charge almost $200 around here. I think I rather buy some tint rolls (like $20 a piece) and practice a lot until I get it. Or do you still think it is too hard?

How would you do the cuts on the back and how many pieces. A friend of mine did my previous car which as a toyota echo and he made like 3 pieces in "U" shapes, it has hold great 3 years from now

I bought a similar kit and never put it on. It does not seem to be precut at all.

Don't piece it...find the right place if you're doing it yourself and buy a bigger piece than the rolls they sell at AutoZone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly's Autoparts, or Walmart.

I bought a set two but I have tinted windows before, it's an art to get it right the first time. Also, make sure that the tint you will be getting is good I highly... wait let me say this I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LLumar tint but second I would go with would be Johnson.

I have had LLumar installed for 4+ years and no fading and still looks like it was put on yesterday. Also, DO NOT USE windex to clean the windows, the ammonia will eat the tint and discolor it!

I say go for it. Its only 40 bucks and thats alot better than 200, in my opinion.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. But now I'm doing research on doing it myself and buying a better quality product.

I'm still unsure on how to put the rear tint if the glass is so curved. I thought the way to go was piecing it but here they're saying I shouldn't. Should I use a hair dryer?

You need a heat gun and a lot of patience, you can do it in one piece but it's challenging. Since the rear glass is curved two ways you will need to start in the middle of the window and work your way out. Research the tools you will need.

Also, back home we used a special kind of tint called "titanium" I don't know if you have that here but I really love that window tint. I think is about 10-5% but it has more reflection and it has a greenish color (kind of the factory tint of luxury cars, specially lexus)

Where could I find that?

Check your state laws, in PA your technically only supposed to have 35% on the front and whatever you want on the rest of the windows.

I don'e know where you could get it but I recommend not using it because it has a mirror like to it and the police don't like it on the front windows.

I see that your car is white some LLumar charcole tint will look really good, but that decision is entirely up to you.

I don't want it in the front. Maybe a 50% or weaker. But definitely on the sides. I don't know what the law is here in AR but I know a friend that has 5% and never had any trouble with it.

I'll check that Llumar stuff

I was thinking of tinting my car myself too. I just got a replacement hatch w/glass from a RS with no holes at all (going wingless for now) so maybe I'll tint it before I install it since you guys say it's so difficult. So what about the other windows and stuff? Are those hard or a piece of cake?

Just to make you life easier you could tint it before installing it. As for the side windows their fairly easy and front side windows are a little more tricky. I suggest you practice with the cheap tint from walmart.

its absolute crap. you truly "get what you paid for" on this one. it bubbled after 3 months and started peeling on the bottom where the window rolls up/down. i peeled it off before it would be a pia to peel off. i wouldnt be surprised that it would have turned purple 6 months later.

anyone else recently have any experience with these ebay precut tint.

$200-250 is the average price for our 2Gs, $150 is a great price but very unlikely unless its from a hookup or some small time doing it at the parking lot of your local junkyard.

for $30 you get tint precut for your vehicle. Results can definitely vary because amateurs are doing the installs, and it goes to show from responses above.

The sides should be no problem. Im thinking of having the rear done by a shop because it seems way too difficult.
