Rear Window Tint

What everyone's opinion on how dark is to dark. When I got my car it came with 7% (a nice cop let me know) all around except the rear window wasn't tinted. Now at night I can barely see out the windows, so I imagine that 7% is a little to much. What it good but still decently dark, as I don't like people looking into my car and seeing my gauges and such. I just want to be able to see out the window at night if necessary.

a lot of places that are hot most cops will ignore it if your reasonable. like he said 20% isn't too bad, my brother lived in FL for a year and got away with 15% on his STi.

I have 5% all the way around, and it's only hard to see backing up at night, one being that I have my rear tails tinted, so the reverse light does not shine well. But that is what my backup camera is for .

I have 18% on my sides, and thats about as dark as ill go. 5% on the little quarters, and nothing on the back, the police dont really bother when they can see clearly in from behind.

I went 20% on everything. It all matches so it looks great and I have no problem seeing out the back window.

i agree, the "limit" here is 35% but i have 20% and have never had any issues, it takes a little to get used to the difference between no tint to 20% but its all good

15 is best, good luck seeing at night tho when backing down an unlit driveway

I have 5% all the way around. Backing up, just unbuckle the harnesses, roll the window down, and stick your head out .

I have 5% in the rear 3 and 20% on the sides. Love it cause you can just make out the outline of someone and at night you can't at all and you can still see well

Def check the local laws... here in Chicago a ticket for tints will run you $250.

I have 20 on the fronts and 15 on the rest. It's comfortable on the hot days and still keeps it dark outside. Seeing out at night can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but overall it's nice.

My God, you guys are lucky.

Up here it's 50% (aka, not worth having) and I've never had a car without factory tint since every single one of my friends with 35% or lighter gets pulled over nearly monthly.

I'd love to get some tint, I think it'd look great with my smoked tails, black wheels and black headlights, but I can't afford the tickets.

Here in Ohio you can have any darkness on the rear and the quarter windows...buuuut, the side windows have to let 50% of light in. My brother has 15% and hasn't been pulled over yet, so I'm guessing they don't care to much

In central Ohio, legal is 50% or 35% . I believe it is 50%, they like to make laws ridiculous sometimes.

So I went with 35% on the side windows, then 20% on the backs. Perfect visibility at night. During the day, you can make out a silohoutte from the side-view. Never been pulled over for tint, 6 years running.

18-20 IS Perfect, but it depends on the cops in your area, I got pulled in my girls car and it was 30% and the court made us take it off.
