TSIAWDTalon, thanks for speaking up on this thread...it'll come in handy...planning to get it tinted by the end of the month.

on another note...went crusin' today...cop that i know told me to put my license plate back on the bumper....yes...it is that quick these cops get on your @$$.

shouldn't they be going over to the east coast to try and find that serial sniper?

ah come on man dont be bring that up. that guy is really #@%#@%#@%#@%ed up. I really dont want to get shot on my way to school or something. I guess i just want to beat him to death LOL

i have a friend who is a ranger, sniper...before he left to go to basic he was a pretty sane guy...but now.... :|

this is getting off topic...i think i'll stay safe and not tint my sides...my rear but not that dark....but once i get outta this state i'll make it dark/mirror.

a pretty good way to go would be to do 5% on the back half and 20% on the doors. the light kept out from the rear makes the fronts look darker, but still gives you good vis at night. i have 5% all the way around mine and don't have a problem with vis at night unless i am backing up and it is pitchblack where i am.

well, as for 5% tint, it does not come with the color safe feature, which will mean that it will start to have the 'turning purple' effect in 4-5 year's time. as for the newer tints of 20% and up, they all have the color safe feature so the black will stay black for life. I just had my tint done today actually, and i'm still waiting for the water to dry, but i have 20% in the back and rear sides, and 35% for the rolldowns. Just warning you about the purple factor for 5% films, since they are dyed, that's why they have that fading effect. That was teh only reason stopping me from not tinting 'limo' for the back.

I would just get the 5%. I went and got 20% (had no idea about %'s 1st car to tint!) I now want to get 5%. Although 20% is pretty dark...kinda hard to see out when it's dark.

Oh yeah it's completly illegal to have ANY tint on the side windows in Utah. But have yet to get pulled over! <-- for that anyway!

i have 5 all the way around. if you pass a cop, or get pulled over, just put your windows down. it is quite hard to see out of them at night though. im scared shtless ima run over a person or median taking a left hand turn, im supiresed i havent donw it yet heh

I tried that trick a few years ago when I went through a little, we have nothing better to do town. The cop pulled me over and made me put my windows up then gave me a $50 ticket for having tinted windows. I have my FOP shields now so I really don't have a problem anymore. We'll at least on expedition. I haven't tested it on my eclipse since it's still in the shop. I agree with everyone about visibility. It looks real cool and I love the fact that no one can see inside of my car but the windows have to go down to back up and I suggest trying to find the brightest bulbs, not hyper white, regular ones to help you see. It really sucks when you have to back up and it's snowing, raining, or real cold outside.

Tint your rear windows as dark as you want. I oersonally would go with 5%. The cops can't check the tint on a window unles the widow can roll down. The device that they use to check tint has to be on both sides of the glass to give them a reading. It sends a beam of light through the glass, and the other side picks it up and reads how much light transmission the glass is producing. If a cop can't check it, they can't prove it. As far as 5% limo tint not haveing a color gaurd, that's bull. They make it, just got to find it, not all tinting places carry it. It's a little more pricey. As far as mods go on Cali cars. They have a setup for what you can and can't do, the cops just aren't sure about it all. You can have a K&N filter setup if you have it professionally installed, and it meets or exceeds the Cali emissions tests. There also has to be a sticker put on the intake proving that you had it done right and tested. Lowering the vehicle can be done if you stay within their guidelines. Your headlights can't be lower than 26" or somewhere around there(I'm not for sure). Exhaust is treated the same way as the intake side. The are california legal exhausts made, but must be installed and tested professionally with some sourt of certification. You may be able to install the stuff your self as long as you get it test and certified to state specs.

hahahah, charlie that would be a good idea, cops would be like i dont want to pull that ### over... hahah when you sending my maddddd tint yo??????

Well what ENEVEL RACER said about the pass side windows is true. I've been pulled over with some friends in their cars and he did the window tint check to the drivers door but since the pass side windows dont roll down they cant check it. The cop said that you could paint the glass complete black and they still couldnt do anything about it. I would just get all the tint the darkest legal color I could afford.

I wanted to get red tint, but I could only find it in 35%, I was thinking of putting red on, then putting on like 5% black, so its more red from the outside. But it wouldn't look as good since the top of my car is black and the bottom half is red, it'd look kinda outta place. So I'm just going with the 2.5% black all around.

any tint on the side windows is illegal in the sate of california and by side windows i mean passenger and driver even if a cop or dmv says its ok to have 35% or whatever you will still get pulled over eventually and you will have to take it off it happened to me and i only had 35 on the side but its only a ten dallor fix it ticket so i say if you are going to do it do it as dark as you can becuase eventually you will get pulled over for it
