Ok this started with my car yesterday and i think i have it narrowed down pretty well. When i crank my car up it acts like i dont have the clutch depressed. If i let off the clutch and then push it down a 2nd time it starts right up. Sounds like the neutral safety switch correct? My questions, is there a way to bypass this or someone who as had experience changing one out. I am not an electrical kinda guy to say the least and thats a pretty small space for my big ass to get up in! :D Anybody that could help out here would be great or someone with any other ideas. If anymore info is needed please let me know. Its working fine for right now with a double pump but im not sure how long that will last.

I can't say for 100% that 2g's are the same but for a 1g you can simply unplug it and the car will start without even having the clutch pedal depressed. I have it this way for my remote start. I just have to make sure to never leave it in gear or it will start in gear.

sounds great guys. I will have to try and squeeze myself under there or have a smaller friend take a look at it tonite. Anybody think it could be something other than this? I will try unplugging it an see what happends. I cant imagine it being anything else though since is responds to the clutch pedal.

I don't know if the neutral switch would cause your exact problem. When you say you crank it and it acts like the clutch pedal isn't pressed do you mean you try to start the car and it lurches forward? I'm not sure what happens if you have the neutral switch unplugged and you try starting the car with the clutch pressed in...

Everyone is saying unplugging the switch might work, sure, but you'd be basically ignoring the fact that it isn't starting up like it's supposed to.

It could be either the neutral safety switch or the key switch itself. I thought my problem was the safety switch but it turned out to be the key switch.

ok when i say the car acts like the clutch is not engaged i mean it doesnt turn over at all it doesnt even try to turn over. If you go out to your car and try to start it with out the clutch pressed in. Thats exactly what mine does. I tried it earlier this morning to make sure that i got the same result when it was pressed in as i did when it wasnt. My radio clicks off like the car is trying to start and but not a movement from the engine. I guess it could be something to do with the ignitions cylinder but i dont understand why releasing the clutch and then depressing it again would work every time so far. to my knowledge changing the ignition cylinder will not really be a boat load of fun compared to just unplugging the safety switch. I will try and get a video in alil bit. Maybe that will help. Until then like i said go try to start your car with out the clutch engaged and thats exactly what i got going on

aight well i had to get a skinner friend to get under there and unplug it because i could get under there but didnt have enough movement to actually get it undone. It seems like that did the trick. thanks very much guys. starts right up every time you hit the key now. That was much easier than i thought and it was FREE!!!!!

Just remember that the car will now start even when it is in gear so be VERY CAREFUL.

yeah i pushed it in all day today just out of habit. I havent had a vehicle with no neutral safety switch in a long time so its kinda become habit again
