It doesn't hurt to unplug it. IMO dry rubbing the thrust bearing before it has the chance to be properly lubed is a no no. When your car sits the oil settles and engaging the clutch without oil circulating causes friction.

Do you think the whole modular clutch affects it? Ive seen conversions for the 420as that use, I think, a 95 neon pressure plate/flywheel.....think that would help any? I have the number matched bearings for my crank too

I was browsing the forums on my phone and didn't see that what engine you had. I honestly have no experience with the 420a. From what I have read though, 420a doesn't have a design flaw that causes crankwalk like the 4G63. I am not saying it can't happen. Personally I don't think the clutch assembly is a factor of the issue.

Any engine with a thrust bearing can develop "crankwalk."

That being said, disabling the switch can be a good thing, and also a bad thing. It's probably the nanny state just interfering with everything it possibly can in the pursuit of so-called safety, but they do have a point to them.

That also being said, disable the damn thing ;)

Ive got a 420a....I plan on disableing it.....but I stumbled across some post about crank wonder and didnt see any mention of bypassing it as a preventive measure...thought it would be an added bonus. ....I always make sure its in nuetral before I start it so.....
