Need location of neutral safety switch

Hi

@ the garage now so a quick answer would be welcomed

At the finishing stages of converting from auto to manual tranny

Car will not start when i turn the key because safety neutral switch is on/off(?)

Where is the neutral safety switch on my 97 GSX? ( it used to be auto tranny , now its manual )

Can anyone explain or even better ..a picture

The park/neutral safety interlock (inhibitor switch) was on the transmission.
You should check the auto conversion threads but I believe you have to connect two of the wires that used to run to the old switch (looks like black/red wire and the black wire) in order to ground the coil of the starter relay so it activates and passes the ignition switch START signal to the starter.

Another option is remove the starter relay and short pins 4 (black/yellow) and 5 (black/red) which should bypass the starter relay.

On a manual car the Clutch Safety Switch in on the clutch pedal assembly but the wiring and relay for the interlock is quite a bit different between the two.

Unplug the connector on the clutch petal... Just make sure that its out of gear or your going through a wall or person.

The cruise control disable switch is part of the same unit so make sure you unplug the connector with the green-black and black wires, not the black-red and black. Or you can just cut the green-black.

I understand that the cruise switch is "above" the clutch pedal arm, and the start safety switch is below it, or engages when you push the clutch/arm down toward the firewall. Intuitively, the cruise switch would extend and disconnect whenever the clutch was depressed, and the clutch safety switch would do the opposite.

Or do I have this backwards?

Where is the connector for the safety switch? Also, if the safety switch is between the arm and firewall, it appears that this switch threads into its bracket, but there seems to be no way to adjust it. On my car, I kept having to push the pedal deeper and deeper to start, until one day it wouldn't start at all. I just want to disconnect this switch now.

Why not just replace the switch, can't be that expensive. If something happened and you disabled that lockout, your insurance company can tell you to pound sand. You'd also have the chance for criminal charges. Please don't cheap out on the safety of your vehicle.
