[RESOLVED] engine dowel

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

You can pick one up at the dealership for $2.xx or so.

Theres a reason the factory put them there, Are you really that cheap?

The dowels really are needed, unless you can get a few headbolts threaded in there to line it up.
I'm pretty sure the dowels are more accurate than the headstuds, but thats just a guess... like the thread posting says not to do!

Thanks for the input. No, I'm not the cheap, I'd rather not drive 30 miles for a 2 dollar part "if" they weren't needed. I have 2 in another block, I'll try to get one of those out and if not I'll journey to the stealership.

Deffinatley put one in it before reassembly. If you don't it will be possible for the head to move around slightly. If it does move around you will likely blow the head gasket and have to take everything back apart.
