[RESOLVED] do i need this heat shield?

Uh so im tryin to put my turbo together as i type this i think i have plugged everything in right. I just put the hoses pritty much where ever they liked to fit. So then i forgot about this heat shield. It will not let me upload the picture for some reason. So i get to try and explain it.

First off its not the 2 big ones for like side of the turbo or the exhouse ( by the way im thinking im gunna leave that one off as well.) it is about 6" by 3-4" and its triangle shaped 3 spots for bolts and a bigger hole for a 4th big bolt.
I just dont wanna not put it in and it burns something in the motor im already freaked out about starting it im 17 tryin to do this for the first time i think im gunna fry something. thanks

If something seems like a bad idea it probably is. All of the heat shields in the car have a design and a purpose or Mitsubishi wouldn't have spent money on having them there. Put everything back on the way it is supposed to go.

Don't half ass things, especially when young, bad habit to get into .

You shouldnt have a problem. Leave the top one on though that covers the top of the manifold.

i would like to put it on only problem i forgot where it go;s i took out the turbo about a month ago.

I took them off. people have no problems with having them off. If you car runs really lean then you will melt the fans, other wise I havent seen any issues especially with stock talons, no issues with it off.

If you're talking about what I think you are, then it isn't a heat shield, but it is important. That's a lift point for your engine/head, the other one being located on the intake mani. When the "big bolt hole", which is actually a point to attach an engine hoist to, is pointed up, the bottom two bolt holes go onto exhaust mani studs on the far drivers side of the manifold, after the manifold, before the copper lock nuts go on. The third hole bolts to the power-steering assembly. Not vital, but its made head removals/installations oh so much easier. If it were me I would run it, but then again I have an engine hoist to use it with, if you don't it's kinda useless. Your call.

I believe you are talking about the engine hanger not a heatshield. It is used to remove the engine from the car. You attach your hoist to the "4th hole for a big bolt" as you have described. There is also another hanger inbetween the TB and the CAS.

You can get along without it but if you want to put it back on: the two holes on the long side of the hanger go on (top) exhaust manifold studs and the hole on the short side goes to the powersteering pump bracket.

alright you cought me i feel dumb its the lift. =P thanks for the pic!!! that reallt helps me and tanks everyone for the help now im just scared to start my car im pritty sure its all in right. just tryed to line all tubes up to what they fit and there all good
