I Searched For A While But Didn't Find Any Info On The Lower Heat Shield. Can That Be Removed Without Any Risk Of Melting Or Over Heating Engine Parts? I See It Is Real Close To The Alternator, Would That Be A Problem?
I See They Make A Replacement Upper Heat Shield A Polished One Which I Will Replace But Dont Seem To Be Any Lower Heat Shields For Sale And Dont See Any On Peoples Cars I Have Looked At Pictures Of Here.

So Please Let Me Know If That Can Be Removed As It Makes The Engine Bay Look Alot Messier.

Also There Is A Brakcet On My Car That Is Right Above The Upper Heat Shield. A Triangular Bracket, But Does Not Seem To Be Attached To Anything. Is That Also A Heat Shield? Any Need For That? It Just Bolts Onto The Exchaust Manifold And Then Sits On Top Of The Heat Shield.

Ok Please Let Me Know Any Info Available. Thanks.

If you remove it, be prepared to get a new alternator..... once a week....

Don't tell him that!!

You'll be fine. Its pretty much mandatory to get rid of the bottom one if you get an O2 eliminator housing. Nothing fits anymore!!

I'm not sure on the bracket, though. The only thing on my heatshield are the little holders for the o2 sensor wire, and there are 3 of them.

The bracket's your referring to is probably your engine hanger bracket. My car didn't come with a top or lower heatshield. my engine does get hot, but still under spec. No problems from it really. I'll probably pick one up on my next junkyard run, and paint it. I think most people don't have the bottom one if they have larger turbos as i doubt they'd fit unless you did some modding.

That bracket is the engine hangar.

If it is possible, keep the heat sheild on. Mitsu put it there for a reason.

What? I haven't had any heat shields for months and haven't been replacing alternators. I am getting a JM Fab polished upper heat shield soon, but many people are running larger turbos that cannot fit the lower heat shield. Unless I'm mistaken and for some reason the 2g's are way different then 1g's.

If you have a lower heat shield, and no fitment reasons not to have it on then I would leave it on.

I bought my car without a lower heat shield and havn't had any problems.
