[RESOLVED] civic radiator

so im getting an aluminum radiator out of a civic, and putting it in my 90 tsi. but i am running into one problem everytime i run it through my head. i will have TWO freakin radiator caps. im sure thats not good, or can #### with things. so what would i do about one of the caps? how to eliminate it. if anyone has any ideas and/or pics i would appreciate it. thanks guys.

well if you don't want to run two caps just have the aluminum radiator welded close.

yeah i have thought about that, but i wasnt sure if it would #### with anything like pressure, temp, or any kind of cooling problem. especially if we just cut out the neck on the radiator and welded it flat.

Take a visit to the junkyard. Find a Hyundai elantra and take the thermostat housing. Hyundai's have the rad cap on the radiator.

and that thermo ousing will bolt up to my 4g63's old housing correct?

yeh it should work. There are several cars you can swap the housings with. I believe a 97-03 kia sephia/spectra thermo housing could work as well.

I used one as well on my drag car but just letting you know the in/outlets on a civic rad is 1.25" as with a DSM its 1.5". That means the DSM rad hoses are to big for the civic rad but its a easy fix as you just need to cut of the neck on the civic rad, grind a bit around the hole and then weld 1.5" tubing on it. Also get a hyundai or colt thermostat housing as it does not have a rad cap on it and use the rad cap on the civic rad. Also dont forget to run a 12" thin fan.
