If you're going to pull the crank out, save yourself the hassle and pull the engine out beforehand. Believe me, you don't want to work on the car like that with it still in there.

Other than that, go to your local Advanced Auto Parts or Library and see if you can pick up a copy of a Haynes manual. They're pretty cheap and they have all the torque specifications.

why would i have to pull the crank out? DO I have to pull it just to replace the rod bearings? I hav a haynes manual didnt know it gave that kinda info.... thanks.

If you're going to replace the main bearings, that is.

Either way, rods or mains, it'll be much easier to yank the engine. If you don't have a lot of security or experience building bottom ends (reliably), take it to a shop. It'll be worth the proper rebuild. Your entire engine is made to run on a very small film of oil. If your bottom end isn't entirely accurate to where it's supposed to be (oil clearance), then it won't be worth your time rebuilding; it's just going to go bad again.

If you're attempting to do it yourself, please, take the time to at least plastigage your oil clearances to make sure you're getting the right specifications.

Tale the time to research as much as possible.
